Vaal racecourse hosts its second meeting of the week today, with the first race set to go off at 11:50am (UK Time). To help you try and find a few winners, here are Magic Tips' South African Horse Racing selections this morning.
Vaal Races Tips - Thursday 1st August
Race 2 - LACEWING (4)
LACEWING rallied late when second over 1600m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and she can go one better.
Race 3 - IMPERIAL MASTER (2)
IMPERIAL MASTER won a good race in his last start over 1800m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Jeffrey Syster retains the ride and the combination can follow up with another victory.
Race 6 - OLIVIA’S WAY (5)
OLIVIA’S WAY followed up her maiden win with an encouraging fourth-place finish over 1400m. She raced wide around the turn that day and understandably lacked a finish. The daughter of Pathfork will love the rise to 1800m. She jumps from pole position and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she may be the one to beat.
Race 7 - CHESTNUT BOMBER (5)
CHESTNUT BOMBER won a good race when shedding his maiden tag at the third time of asking. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He does take on stronger but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 8 - KOTINOS (1)
KOTINOS has found a form return in his last two starts. He was running on when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 2.5kgs off his back and he can notch up his fourth-career victory.
Verdict
Olivia's Way (Race 6) is Magic Tips' best bet of the day at Vaal on Thursday.
