Vaal racecourse hosts a decent meeting today, with the first race set to go off at 10:35am (UK Time). To help you try and find a few winners, here are Magic Tips' South African Horse Racing selections this morning.
Vaal Races Tips - Thursday 5th December
Race 2 - SATYAGRAHA (18)
SATYAGRAHA caught the eye when third over this C&D on debut. He lost a length leaving the start but finished off his race strongly. The son of One World would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
Race 5 - CONFEDERATE (1)
CONFEDERATE is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position over 1450m on the Classic course last time, but found one too good in the form of Lava Fire. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 6 - POMODORO’S JET (2)
POMODORO‘S JET finished 2.5 lengths behind ARGO ALLEY last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and he can notch up his sixth-career victory.
Race 7 - CHOCOLATE SOLDIER (2)
CHOCOLATE SOLDIER ran a good race when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He has won three times and finished second twice from six starts over this distance. The son of One World is having his peak run today and he should be hard to peg back.
Race 8 - JOHNNY APPLESEED (7)
JOHNNY APPLESEED is better than his last start as he was reported to be fatigued. He finished 1.45 lengths behind BLAZE A WAY in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Admiral Kitten is likely to race on the speed and he may be hard to peg back.
Verdict
Chocolate Soldier (Race 7) is Magic Tips' best bet of the day at Vaal on Thursday.
