Race 3 - ONTHEVERGE (1)
ONTHEVERGE is lightly raced with good form to her credit. She stayed on nicely when finishing third over 1800m on this course last time. The daughter of Where’s That Tiger gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. In this type of field, she should be the one to beat.
Race 4 - MOTOWN MAGIC (1)
MOTOWN MAGIC has run four good races to date. He challenged strongly in his last start over this distance, but found one too good in the form of Equillo. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the son of Uncle Mo and he should strip much fitter. The combination of Mike de Kock and S’manga Khumalo are in hot form and this 3yo colt should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
Race 5 - PRINCE EVLANOFF (1)
PRINCE EVLANOFF moved up like a winner in his last start over 1800m, but was caught in the latter stages by Willow’s Wish. The son of Flower Alley won his only attempt on this course. He takes a drop in class this afternoon and should be too good for this field.
Race 6 - VALYRIAN KING (5)
VALYRIAN KING is one of the better bets on this afternoon’s programme. He finished 0.05 lengths behind RAPID FIRE in his last start and is 1.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. All four of his career victories have come over this distance and he should be hard to peg back in the closing stages.
Race 8 - HOLLYWOODBOUND (1)
HOLLYWOODBOUND hails from the in-form Roy Magner stable. She was not disgraced when finishing third in the Grade 2 Golden Slipper last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She won her penultimate start over this distance in fine style. The daughter of Master Of My Fate makes her Handicap debut and with Gavin Lerena in the saddle, she can return to winning ways.
