Saturday marks the biggest day on the racing calendar in Dubai. The Dubai World Cup is the highlight on the card, and this year's winner will hand connections a whopping first prize of £5.25m.

Whether due to Covid regulations or a lack of depth in the division, this year's Dubai World Cup is one of the weakest renewals there's ever been. We've taken a look through the field and picked out our best betting tips.

Mystic Guide tops the market, after a strong victory in the Razorback Handicap last month. Luis Saez mount also has winning form over second-favourite Jesus' Team, having comfortably beaten his rival in the Jim Dandy Stakes in September.

Only three US horses have won the Dubai World Cup in the last ten years, and they were proven Grade One winners rated in excess of 120. Neither Mystic Guide nor Jesus' Team has made the breakthrough at the highest level yet. Both have also shown a liking for coming from off the pace, and a quick look through the history of this Grade One will tell you it pays to be up with the gallop throughout.

Military Law has to bounce back from a poor run in the Saudi Cup, where he was outpaced a long way from home. French raider, Magny Cours still has plenty to prove at this level, while Sleepy Eyes Todd has questions to answer regarding his stamina.

Frankie Dettori's mount, Great Scott could go well, but he has to start brilliantly having been drawn on the rail. Ryan Moore rides Title Ready, whose form in the US doesn't look up to Grade One standard.

The one I really like here is SALUTE THE SOLDIER, who was last seen winning the Al Maktoum Challenge series on Super Saturday.

Salute The Soldier has been in the form of his life this year, and his performances have improved with each start. Fawzi Nass' six-year-old was beaten by Military Law back in January, but he was sandwiched on the rail that day having been drawn in stall one, and picked up well late on just to finish third.

Adrie de Vries latched onto the pace-setting Capezzano and pulled clear to win a Grade Two next time out. On his last start, Salute The Solider made all the running, and comfortably held Hypothetical at arm's length to secure a maiden Grade One win.

All of the last four winners of the Dubai World Cup were drawn in stall nine or wider, so connections will have been delighted when Salute The Soldier was placed in stall 11. Capezzano will make an early dash to grab the lead from stall 7, and with three hold-up horses between them, de Vries should be able to track his rival and grab a prominent early position.

Verdict

Salute The Soldier brings the strongest form to the table, and he's been drawn perfectly in stall 11. At 7/1, he looks a fantastic each-way bet.
