One of the most important Group One races staged in Britain is the Coral-Eclipse Stakes. This Group One, which was first staged in 1886, provides three-year-olds with their first opportunity to take on older horses at the highest level, and always makes for fascinating viewing.
Let's take a look through the latest Coral-Eclipse Stakes betting and run through the headline entries.
18+ only. Ts and Cs apply. Gamble responsibly. Coral is operated by LC International Limited and licensed and regulated by the British Gambling Commission for persons gambling in Great Britain. For persons gambling outside Great Britain, Coral is licensed by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.
Once it was confirmed that Adayar would miss the race, race-sponsors Coral quickly installed Native Trail as their new favourite. Charlie Appleby's star bounced back from the first defeat of his career at Newmarket by winning the Irish 1000 Guineas and Coral currently list Native Trail as their 5/2 market leader.
Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead told RacingInsider.com: “Native Trail now heads the betting for the Coral-Eclipse after the news that the 2021 Derby winner Adayar will miss the race, meaning Godolpin will be hoping on the Irish 2,000 Guineas winner can come home in-front at Sandown.”
Second in the market we find Bay Bridge, who will bid to win his first Group One in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot. Native Trail could also square off against John Gosden's Mishriff and recent Tattersalls Gold Cup winner, Alenquer.
William Haggas has also entered up Baaeed, but it's highly unlikely that we'll see Europe's best horse at Sandown. Coroebus, Lord North and State Of Rest also feature in the betting and could run if all goes to plan at Royal Ascot.
Aidan O'Brien has entered up Oaks winner Tuesday, along with top colts Stone Age and High Definition. Real World, Addeybb, Dubai Honour and Westover also feature in the betting with Coral.
