Trials Day takes place at Cheltenham on Saturday. The main event on a stacked card is the Cotswold Chase, a 25-furlong Grade Two which has often been used as a key trial for the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Master Oats was the last horse to win the Cotswold Chase and the Gold Cup in the same season, achieving that fantastic feat back in 1995.

We've taken a look through the betting for Saturday's Cotswold Chase and picked out our best betting tips.

Chantry House bids to put himself back in the Gold Cup picture this weekend. Nicky Henderson's dual Grade One winner was pulled up early in the King George when last seen, but that hasn't stopped the bookies from making Chantry House their even-money favourite.

Sitting second in the market we find Lucinda Russell's exciting novice Ahoy Senor. Derek Fox's mount bolted up at Newbury on his second chase start, before getting outpaced by Bravemansgame in the Kauto Star over Christmas.

Aye Right claimed a deserved victory in the Rehearsal Chase last time out, and Harriet Graham has rewarded her stable star with another outing in Grade Two company. Paul Nicholls' won this race with Frodon in 2019 and he'll throw Simply The Betts into the mix.

2020 winner, Santini will have his second start for Polly Gundry on Trials Day. Cheltenham regular, Coole Cody will step up to three miles for the first time. Ex Patriot and Kauto Riko could also run.

Chantry House has never been a horse that gets my juices flowing. Given his poor performance at Kempton, the fact he's yet to prove himself in open company, and his exceedingly short price, I'm perfectly happy to take him on.

This test of stamina around a galloping track like Cheltenham will really suit Ahoy Senor. However, he looked beaten when falling on his chase debut against more seasoned rivals in the Colin Parker earlier in the season and I'd rather side with a more experienced rival.

Aye Right belongs at this sort of level, but he hasn't jumped well on his two previous chase starts at Cheltenham. This leaves me looking at SIMPLY THE BETTS, who will certainly handle the track and has shown some good form for Paul Nicholls this term.

On the back of an encouraging stable debut in the Paddy Power Gold Cup, I really fancied Simply The Betts for the Many Clouds Chase at Aintree. Gavin Sheehan's mount quickly dropped to the rear of the field that day, following some sluggish early jumps. Although he attempted to catch up with the leading pack at several points, Simply The Betts could never get into a good rhythm on increasingly treacherous ground and was pulled up before the last when miles behind Protektorat.

A return to Cheltenham on New Years' Day saw Simply The Betts return to top form, staying on under top-weight to finish a close second behind Vienna Court. Despite that run at Aintree, I remain convinced that Harry Cobden's mount will see out this extended trip and Nicholls' nine-year-old will also be getting weight from the three ahead of him in the market.

Simply The Betts is definitely worth another go over three miles and his form around Cheltenham has to give him a massive chance here.
