One of the world's most famous horse races will take place at Epsom on Saturday, as some of the sport's best colts do battle in the Epsom Derby. 12 months ago, Auguste Rodin won after disappointing in the 2000 Guineas and Aidan O'Brien will be hoping for a similar miracle to occur this year.

2024 Epsom Derby Entries

Despite that disappointing showing in the 2000 Guineas, last year's top juvenile City Of Troy has been supported back to the head of the Epsom Derby betting. That may partly be due to the absence of three impressive trial winners. Hidden Law suffered a fatal injury moments after he won the Chester Vase. Stablemate and Sandown Trial winner Arabian Crown was ruled out last week, and Dante winner Economics doesn't hold a Derby entry.

Dee Stakes winner, Capulet and Leopardstown Trial winner, Los Angeles will likely join stablemate City Of Troy in the Derby field. French 2000 Guineas fourth Diego Velazquez also holds a Derby entry, but Aidan O'Brien may keep his star in France and target the Prix du Jockey Club.

Sitting second in the market is James Fanshawe's Ambiente Friendly, who powered to victory in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown. Ancient Wisdom drifted out to 14/1 following his defeat to Economics in the Dante. Dancing Gemini could head to Epsom, following a narrow defeat in the French 2000 Guineas.

Bellum Justum earned his spot in the Derby field by landing the Blue Ribband Trial at Epsom in April. Ralph Beckett could step Macduff up in trip again following a fine second behind Arabian Crown at Sandown. Richard Hannon's Voyage and Owen Burrow's Deira Mile are also possible runners.

Dallas Star could head on to Epsom after winning the Ballysax Stakes at 50/1. Other possible runners include Dermot Weld's Spoken Truth, Sardinian Warrior for the Gosdens, Karl Burke's Caviar Heights and Harper's Ferry for Ed Walker.
