2022 Goodwood Cup Entries

Kyprios claimed the first big prize of the season for the stayers, outlasting Mojo Star and Stradivarius to win the Ascot Gold Cup. Aidan O'Brien's star tops the Goodwood Cup betting on that back of that win, with Betfair offering a best price of 5/2.

Mojo Star, who finished second in both the Epsom Derby and the St Leger as a three-year-old, will take on Kyprios once again. Stradivarius will bid to win his fifth Goodwood Cup, on what will likely be his final appearance on a racetrack.

Defending champion, Trueshan missed Ascot when the ground came up good, instead heading up to Newcastle to win the Northumerland Plate under top-weight. Alan King's defending champion sits third in the betting, and will probably only run at Goodwood if the ground comes up slower than good.

Coltrane could step up into Group One company, having won the Ascot Stakes and the Coral Marathon on his last two starts. Princess Zoe will be looking to bounce back from a poor effort in the Ascot Gold Cup. Charlie Appleby could be represented by Dubai Gold Cup runner-up, Manobo.

Ascot Gold Cup fifth, Tashkhan and Hardwicke Stakes sixth, Away He Goes have been handed Glorious Goodwood entries. Other likely runners on day one include Martyn Meade's three-year-old Zechariah, Ian Williams' Enemy and Roger Teal's Ocean Wind, who hasn't run since May 2021.
