2018 Goodwood Cup Tips & Betting Predictions

The Group 1 Goodwood Cup is always an exciting race for the stayers and this year there's a short favourite in the market. Stradivarius will run as the odds-on favourite in the 2018 Goodwood Cup and we're not sure if he can be beaten.

The late addition of Order of St George will make it a more interesting battle but the torch has been passed and the younger thoroughbred should get the job done.

Goodwood Cup Best Bet - Stradivarius

Punters will have to take short odds of 1.61 for the raging-hot favourite but it looks money well spent. The four-year-old enters this race with a win in the Group 1 Gold Cup during the Royal Ascot Festival and that form always stacks up well a month later.

John Gosden is confident with the son of Sea The Stars and with two quality wins under his belt already this preparation, only bad luck or a poor ride should stop him here.

Goodwood Cup Best Each Way - Order of St George

Order of St George has long been one of the most dominant stayers in the world but he might have passed the torch on to Stradivarius when running fourth in the Ascot Gold Cup. It was a performance of a six-year-old who might be past his best, but he still represents value here.

He has shown the ability to bounce back throughout his career and it would take a brave bettor to completely rule out his chances. He wasn't always heading to the Goodwood Cup but he adds some interest and he could test the favourite.

Goodwood Cup Best Roughie - Torcedor

Probably not considered a "roughie" at 6.00 but Torcedor should be a touch longer in the market and he might drift on the day. The six-year-old hasn't had a storied career but he was solid when running third behind Stradivarius last start and that form will hold for this.

He started as a 15.00 chance in the Gold Cup and that run captured the attention of bookmakers, who should offer around 2.50 to place.

Best Bet: Stradivarius @ 1.61
Best Each Way: Order of St George @ 5.50
Best Roughie: Torcedor @ 6.00
