Bookmakers Ladbrokes has slashed the odds on Snow Leopardess winning the Grand National to 7/1 from 8/1, following continuous support for the popular mare.

The ten-year-old grey, who bids to become the first mother to win the race in living memory, is now the clear favourite for the race.

“We knew Snow Leopardess would be the public horse, but probably weren’t expecting so much interest in her until Grand National day itself." Said Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes.

"In her bid to become the first mother to win the race in living memory, punters have fallen in love with the mare and just can’t wait until Saturday to show their support. As a result of the money we have seen today, she is now the clear favourite to win the world’s most famous race.”

Rachael Blackmore and Minella Times have also seen their price cut to 10/1 from 14/1 to win the Grand National this Saturday for a second year in-a-row according to Ladbrokes.

Last year, Blackmore cost the bookmaking industry a fortune, and a win this year is likely to prove even costlier again as her popularity continues to soar.

Nicola McGeady continues, “Rachael Blackmore and Minella Times are the Grand National ‘Dream Team’ and the thoughts of her making it a double is giving our traders sleepless nights.

"There is no doubt it will be a tough ask to win the race again, but as far as punters are concerned, nothing is too tough for Blackmore. Along with star mare Snow Leopardess, we expect to be knocked over with bets on Blackmore and Minella Times defending their crown.”

Four late defectors meant that Classic Chase winner Eclair Surf made it into the final field, and Emma Lavelle's runner was immediately cut into 14/1. Henry Daly's Fortescue also scraped into the final field, and he too saw his price cut into 28/1.

Any Second Now remains the 8/1 second favourite, with Delta Work just one point further back. 14/1 shot, Enjoy D'allen has been well-backed during the build-up, as have fellow Irish raiders, Longhouse Poet and Escaria Ten.

Ladbrokes is expecting record turnover this weekend, with the Masters and Premier League sharing centre-stage. The Grand National is a £150 million betting race and is ten times bigger than any other race according to the firm.
