It's been six years since Aidan O'Brien last won the 2000 Guineas, but the master of Ballydoyle looks set to play a strong hand this year. Leading the way in the betting is the unbeaten Twain, who won the Criterium International at Saint-Cloud just a week after scoring on debut at Leopardstown.

Expanded almost pulled off a similar feat when second in the Dewhurst, and he could also represent O'Brien. Henri Matisse warmed up for this Classic by winning the trial at Leopardstown last month. Aidan has also entered Camille Pissarro, second on his return at the Curragh, and Aftermath, who placed in the Grade Two Champagne Stakes at Doncaster last season.

Charlie Appleby's best hope of a third 2000 Guineas win in the space of four years is Shadow Of Light, who held off Expanded to land the Dewhurst. Ruling Court threw his hat into the Classic ring with an impressive victory at Meydan last month. Opera Ballo has taken the Notable Speech route to the first Classic of the season, having won twice on the all-weather to kick off his three-year-old campaign.

Cosmic Year made a lasting impression when winning at Sandown on his sole juvenile start and Harry Charlton's star will return on the all-weather this week. Joseph O'Brien has entered Scorthy Champ, who caused an upset when landing the National Stakes at the Curragh last season.

Jessica Harrington has confirmed that Derby entrant, Green Impact will make his reappearance at the Guineas Festival, with stablemate Hotazhell likely to head to France. Other potential runners include Field Of Gold for John and Thady Gosden, James Owen's Royal Lodge Stakes winner Wimbledon Hawkeye, Yah Mo Be There for Richard Spencer, and a couple of Juddmonte colts in Detain and Jonquil.
