The first major meeting in September takes place at Haydock Park, where the Sprint Cup headlines the card. This six-furlong contest has been won by sprinting legends like Be Friendly, Moorestyle and Danehill down the years and this year's renewal is looking decidedly open.

Let's take a look through the latest Sprint Cup betting and run through the headline entries.

Despite losing out to the older sprinters in the July Cup, three-year-olds top the betting for this year's Sprint Cup. Commonwealth Cup winner, Inisherin was only fifth at Newmarket, but he heads the betting, with fellow Sheikh Mohammed Obaid flag-bearer, Elite Status sitting second in the market.

Regional could return to Haydock to defend the crown he won 12 months ago, if Ed Bethell's star has recovered from the setback that ruled him out of the Nunthorpe. Believing stayed on well to finish second in that five furlongs sprint at York, and could step back up in trip at Haydock.

Last year's fourth, Swingalong will return to Merseyside on the back of narrow defeats in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes and the Sprint Cup. Ralph Beckett could be represented by the ever-popular Kinross, with William Haggas likely to throw Chipchase Stakes winner Montassib into his first Group One.

Clive Cox has had two months to work on Jasour, who is often slow to start and runs too keen in his races. Lake Forrest could also represent this year's three-year-old crop, along with Irish raiders Givemethebeatboys and Bucanero Fuerte.

Other possible runners include Kind Of Blue for James Fanshawe, City Of York Stakes third Shouldvebeenaring, front-running grey Art Power, and Shartash for Archie Watson and Wathnan Racing.
