2021 Sprint Cup Runners

Starman claimed his first Group One win in the July Cup earlier in the season, and proved he could handle soft ground when third in the Prix Maurice de Gheest last time out. Ed Walker's charge wouldn't run if the ground came up heavy, but the weather forecast in the Haydock area is unusually dry for this time of year, and Starman is likely to take up his entry.

Dragon Symbol sits closest to the favourite in the betting. Archie Watson's three-year-old has placed second in the Commonwealth Cup, July Cup and King George Stakes, and was also third in the Nunthorpe Stakes when last seen at York.

Creative Force followed a fifth-place finish behind Starman in the July Cup with a narrow defeat to Kinross in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood. Glen Shiel hasn't been at his best in recent starts, but did finish second to Dream Of Dreams in the 2020 Sprint Cup.

Art Power was outpaced over five furlongs at Goodwood last time out, and ran well when fourth as a three-year-old in this race 12 months ago. He sits at 10/1 in Betfair's betting, alongside Supremacy, despite his disappointing efforts so far this season.

Other notable entrants include Joseph Murphy's dual Group winner Gustavus Weston, Lennox Stakes hero Kinross, and Nunthorpe fifth Chil Chil. Fresh, Happy Romance, Romantic Proposal, Summerghand and 2018 Sprint Cup runner-up, Brando could also take their chance.
