One of the biggest betting races staged during the first half of the National Hunt racing season is the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase. Formerly known as the Hennessy and the Ladbrokes Trophy, this three-mile-two-contest has been won by many of the sport's best chasers, including One Man, Denman. Burrough Hill Lad and two-time winner, Arkle.

Paul Nicholls has made a flying start to the new season and he'll be represented at Newbury by Complete Unknown, who won nicely on his return to action at Newton Abbot. Sitting second in the market is John McConnell's Mahler Mission, who fell when leading in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham, but ran well on his reappearance in the Colin Parker.

Ultima third, Monbeg Genius has maintained his position near the top of the Coral Gold Cup market, despite pulling up on his prep run at Ascot. Last year's winner, Dan and Harry Skelton will team up with Midnight River, a distant third on his return to action in the Charlie Hall Chase.

2022 runner-up, Remastered will return to Newbury as a ten-year-old, following an outing over hurdles at Aintree. Sam Thomas will be represented by recent Newbury winner Stolen Silver and Grand National runner Our Power. Gavin Cromwell runs beaten Kim Muir favourite, Stumptown.
