Hardwicke Stakes betting selections & tips

We will have expert tips for the Hardwicke Stakes available when the final-field markets are released by bookmakers.

Hardwicke Stakes history

First run in 1879, the Harkwicke Stakes has been an important lead-up race for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

It's currently held on the final day of the Royal Ascot festival, which also includes the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Sir Michael Stoute has recorded 10 winners, which started with Dihistan in 1986 and his most recent winner was Dartmouth in 2016.

Lester Piggott and Pat Eddery have won seven times as jockeys and Ryan Moore has been the most successful recent jockey in the Hardwicke Stakes with four winners.

Dartmouth scored at odds of 10/1 and he was well-backed to score again in 2017 as a 9/4 hope, but it was the Aidan O'Brien-trained Idaho which came out on top.

Snow Sky won at 12/1 in 2015 and big names such as Postponed and Telescope weren't able to make ground on Snow Sky which recorded an easy 3.75-length win.

A talented line up took to the track in 2013 when Thomas Chippendale won at odds of 8/1 and although the field had only eight runners, it included some of the biggest names in racing.

Dandino, Mount Athos, Sir John Hawkwood and favourite Ektihaam were all top chances in the 2013 Hardwicke Stakes which could have been a Group 1 with that quality field.

2012 presented another quality field and it again included some of the world's best stayers.

Sea Moon, Dunaden, Red Cadeaux and Jakkalberry all took to the track, which proves just how strong the Hardwicke Stakes is.

Four-year-olds have won the last 10 editions.
