Royal Ascot drew to a fitting conclusion this afternoon, where King Charles III and Queen Camila were once again in attendance.
12 months after his shock victory at odds of 80/1, Khaadem retained his crown in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. Oisin Murphy produced Charlie Hills' eight-year-old perfectly, forging clear of Swingalong and Mill Stream in the final furlongs.
The opening Chesham Stakes saw the most emphatic winner of the week, as favourite Bedtime Story stormed to a ten-length victory under Ryan Moore, earning quotes of 3/1 for next year's 1000 Guineas. George Scott then celebrated a famous victory in the Hardwicke Stakes with the globe-trotting Isle Of Jura, who we tipped up on this website at 12/1 yesterday.
After hitting the crossbar in two Guineas, Haatem claimed a welcome victory in the Jersey Stakes, with James Doyle's mount narrowly holding off the charging Kikkuli. William Haggas then saddled his first winner of the week, as Tom Marquand scored in the Wokingham aboard Unequal Love.
38 years to the day since Diego Maradonna's infamous goal against England at Mexico '86, Hand Of God bolted up in the Golden Gates Stakes. The final race of the meeting, the Queen Alexandra Stakes was won in excellent style by Joseph O'Brien's Uxmal, who saw off Irish rivals Run For Oscar and Dawn Rising.
