Friday at the Ebor Festival features one of the most exciting races in the sport, the Nunthorpe Stakes. Horses of all ages are free to enter this five furlong sprint, and 15 hopefuls will bid to join the likes of Abernant, Sharpo, Sole Power and Battaash on the roll of honour.
We've taken a look through the field for this year's Nunthorpe Stakes and picked out our best betting tips.

2021 Nunthorpe Stakes Runners
Wesley Ward sends his best sprinter, Golden Pal over from America for the first time since Royal Ascot 2020. Since a narrow defeat to The Lir Jet in the Norfolk Stakes, Golden Pal has gone unbeaten and Frankie Dettori will take the ride on the market leader.
Sitting second in the market we find French filly Suesa, who was last seen bolting up in the King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. Dragon Symbol, who's now finished second in four pattern races on the bounce, returns for another crack at Suesa.
Tim Easterby's star sprinter, Winter Power has won twice at York this season and jumps back up into Group One company. Paul Mulrennan will again partner Que Amoro, who finished a close second to Battaash in this race 12 months ago.
Arecibo has also run well enough to place in several big races this season, and he'll look to continue his fine form. Liberty Beach, Moss Gill and Chil Chil could garner each-way support, as could Rohaan and Dakota Gold.
Two-year-old Chipotle will take on his elders for the first time. Three-year-olds Bedford Flyer and Ubettabelieveit complete the field, along with Emaraaty Ana.

The Nunthorpe is a race that doesn't bring back good memories for Wesley Ward. Both of his previous runners at the Ebor Festival have finished second, and few will forget Lady Aurelia's defeat to Marsha in 2017, where Frankie Dettori celebrated a little prematurely. His raider, Golden Pal is respected, but the draw hasn't done him any favours and fitting a tongue-tie for the first time seems strange on the back of three victories.
This will be the quickest ground Suesa has ever run on, and that could make her vulnerable. Winter Power boasts some strong course form, but that's only at Listed level and she was found wanting on her only previous outing in Group One company.
Dragon Symbol holds appeal. However, I'd rather back a couple of outsiders at much longer prices.
The first being ARECIBO, despite what could prove to be a tricky draw up in stall five. I've been following Arecibo all season, and I was rewarded with a decent slice of place money at Royal Ascot, and again at Glorious Goodwood.
Jamie Spencer's mount, who needs to challenge as late as possible, hit the front far too early in the King George, and was swamped in the closing stages by Suesa, Dragon Symbol and Glass Slippers. Despite drifting back to fourth, that was still another excellent performance, and Arecibo still holds plenty of each-way appeal at 20/1.

Another who prefers to come fast and late is CHIL CHIL, who ran better than her finishing position suggests in the July Cup. Andrew Balding's mare was continuously forced wider and wider across the track as she attempted to make her challenge from the rear, and was showing no signs of slowing down as she crossed the line ninth, just four lengths adrift of Starman.
Prior to that, Chil Chil had posted career-best efforts to win a handicap under 9-7 at Newmarket, and a good-quality renewal of the Chipchase Stakes, which she won quite convincingly.
This will be the first time Chil Chil has dropped down to the minimum distance, but the way she travels and finishes off her races over six furlongs suggests she might take well to this new distance. She has everything to prove at this level, but this looks a wide-open race to me and Chil Chil could run her way into the places.
For me, there are question marks against all four at the head of the market, so I'm going to have a couple of each-way bets on Arecibo and Chil Chil at tasty prices.
