One of the world's most famous horse races takes place at Churchill Downs on May 7th, as many of North America's best three-year-olds do battle in the Kentucky Derby. The winner of this year's Derby will hand connections a huge first prize of $1.86m and viewers can look forward to a typically thrilling renewal.

2023 Kentucky Derby Entries

Dominating the betting for this year's Kentucky Derby is Todd Pletcher's Forte. Pletcher's colt ended his unbeaten juvenile campaign with an impressive win in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Forte has been cut into 5/2 with bet365 following victories in the Fountain Of Youth Stakes and the Florida Derby this season.

Tapit Trice also jumped up to second in the Kentucky Derby betting, on the back of wins in the South Tampa Bay Derby and the Blue Grass Stakes. Another trial winner, Angel Of Empire sits third following his impressive victory in the Arkansas Derby last month.

Practical Move kicked off his campaign with a second Grade Two triumph at Santa Anita, before following up in the Santa Anita Derby. Japanese star Derma Sotogake booked his spot in the field at Churchill Downs by winning the UAE Derby on Dubai World Cup Night.

Other runners in the opening leg of the US Triple Crown include Florida Derby runner-up Mage, Santa Anita Derby third Skinner, and Louisianna Derby winner Kingsbarns. Verifying, Two Phils, Mandarin Hero, Hit Show, Lord Miles and Confidence Game have also taken up their Kentucky Derby entries.
