Melbourne Cup Carnival Tips & Betting Predictions
The Melbourne Cup carnival is the biggest racing carnival in Australia.
Featuring the $6.2 million Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday in November, the Melbourne Cup carnival is a week-long racing festival packed with four great betting days.
Held at Flemington from Saturday to Saturday, the carnival also includes the likes of the Victorian Derby, Oaks, Coolmore Classic and the Kennedy Mile.
The Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule has punters entertained throughout the week and it's easily the most popular racing carnival in Australia.
Melbourne Cup Carnival Group 1 races
There are seven Group 1 races held throughout the course of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Derby Day, which runs on the first Saturday of the carnival, is considered to be the best betting day in Australia and it features four Group 1 races.
- Victoria Derby
- Myer Classic
- Kennedy Mile
- Coolmore Stud Stakes
The following Tuesday is Melbourne Cup Day and although it's the only Group 1 race on the card, Melbourne Cup Day sees the most money invested over any meeting in Australia.
The Kennedy Oaks is run on Ladies Day on the following Thursday. The meeting isn't as popular as the other three meetings during the carnival but the on-course fashion and other festivities makes for an exciting day.
The final Saturday is known as "Stakes Day" and features two Group 1 races.
