Curragh Tips - Sunday 24th May


2:15pm Curragh - Marble Hill Stakes Tips


Aidan O'Brien's Great Barrier Reef tops this betting heat, and he'll be joined by stablemate Carry The Flag. Robson de Aguiar has a couple of live chances in this contest too, and I'm leaning towards his second string, IMMORTAL GUARD (9/1).

This son of Persian Force made his racecourse debut here at the Curragh three weeks ago. It took a little while for the penny to drop once Donagh O'Connor asked him for an effort, but Immortal Guard finished his race well to secure a cosy victory over another of today's runners, Otherworldly.

In his comments after that victory, de Aguiar was very complimentary about the winner and said he'd improve plenty for that outing. He's capable of another step forward on Sunday.

3:20pm Curragh - Lanwades Stud Stakes Tips


I really do feel like CITY OF MEMPHIS (11/4) is a Group One winner in waiting, and I could see Paddy Twomey's filly challenging in something like the Matron Stakes come the end of the season.

Winners have been hard to come by for me this month, but she was one of my more impressive ones when scoring in the Mutamakina Stakes at Leopardstown. City Of Memphis travelled comfortably behind the front-running Arizona Blaze throughout, and settled the argument with a fantastic burst of speed at the two-furlong pole, before cruising home to win by almost two lengths.

Billy Lee's mount showed she had plenty of quality during a brief three-year-old campaign, and she's been superb on both of her starts in 2026. I can't see this step up to a mile posing City Of Memphis any problems whatsoever.

3:55pm Curragh - Tattersalls Gold Cup Tips


Minnie Hauk is going to be a tough nut to crack. Aidan O'Brien's filly brings some of the strongest form into this contest, and that runner-up finish to Daryz in the Arc has been boosted twice over the past six weeks.

That being said, ten furlongs on quickening ground could be a little sharp for the favourite, and Aidan O'Brien's filly will only be getting three pounds from some dangerous rivals. Almaqam and Bay City Roller bring Group One form to the table, but both would be much more comfortable on softer ground.

SADDADD (9/2) has come up through the handicap route, but looks capable of striking a blow at the highest level. Roger Varian's colt won a couple of valuable handicaps last term, and returned to action with an impressive Group Three triumph at Sandown.

Ray Dawson's mount took a little while to reach top gear that day, but soon bridged the gap between himself and the front-running King Of Cities, before pulling two lengths clear in the final furlong. Varian hasn't sent many runners over to Ireland in the past couple of years, so he must think that this improving son of Pinatubo - and a half-brother to Almaqam - has a good chance of challenging. I'll chance Saddadd at 9/2 against the odds-on favourite.
