20 Jumps Horses To Follow 2023/24

Ahead of the 2023/24 National Hunt racing season, we've picked out 20 talented horses to follow.

These horses come from the lower-profile yards from around Britain and Ireland. Our list includes talented novice hurdles, up-and-coming chasers, and some horses who may land prestigious Cheltenham Festival races during the jumps racing season.

2023/24 Tracker Horses - Entries and Results

You can track the progress of all 20 horses here on our website.

We'll also send out tracker alerts from the Racing Insider Twitter handle when any of the 20 have been declared to run.

(7 Nov 23) Nov Chase Warwick 2m4f - 1st 🥇 11/10 SP
Travelled powerfully throughout. Jumping improved with each flight. Never came off the bridle as he pulled four lengths clear of a good Paul Nicholls horse. Very impressive.

La Malmason - Gavin Cromwell

(7 Oct 23) Beg Chase Fairyhouse 2m5f - 7th 13/2 SP
Surprised to see her over fences and to see her pitched in with the geldings. Never really got into the race and was beaten a long way from home. Hopefully Gavin finds her an easier assignment next, because she didn't jump too badly.

(22/10/23) Beg Ch Wexford 2m3f - UR 6/1 SP
Another tough task against the geldings. Ridden more prominently this time. Jumped fairly well again. Still yet to be asked a question in fourth when she dived at the third-last and unseated her rider. Looks well up to winning over fences though.

(10 Nov 23) Beg Chase Down Royal 2m4f - 3rd 🥉 11/1 SP
Held her own against Found A Fifty and Colonel Mustard, rated 142 and 148 over hurdles. Best round of jumping she produced so far and closed to within two lengths of Colonel Mustard on the run in. Very encouraging!

Loughderg Rocco - Laura Morgan

Moon Hunter - Henry Daly

(27/10/23) NovHandiCh Cheltenham 2m4f - 4th 13/2 SP
Jumped well, but badly outpaced early on. Was already being bumped along after two flights. Picked up well from the rear coming down the hill. Poor jump at the second-last stopped him finishing better than fourth. Encouraging start. Probably wants three miles.

Mumbo Jumbo - Emma Lavelle

(9 Nov 23) Nov Handi Chase Newbury 3m - UR 9/1 SP
Held up against some talented opposition. Was just starting to make inroads when he unseated Joe Anderson at the 11th. Jumps fairly well until that point though.

Nemean Lion - Kerry Lee

(15 Oct 23) Welsh Champion Hurdle Ffos Las 2m - 1st 🥇 3/1 SP
Travelled and jumped well. Hit the front three furlongs out and never looked like being passed. Had a little left up his sleeve. Could now head on to the Greatwood.

Indeevar Bleu - Olly Murphy

(4 Nov 23) Nov Hurdle Ayr 2m - 4th 6/5 SP
Far too keen early on. First few jumps were poor. Too far back to make a challenge, but finished off his race fairly well to finish seven lengths behind the winner. Should improve plenty for that outing.

Rock House - Dan Skelton

(18 Sept 23) NvMdHrd Worcester 2m - 1st 🥇 8/13 SP
Keen early on. Settled once the pace picked up. Jumped neatly throughout. Cantered into contention and pulled 13 lengths clear on the bridle. Tougher tests to come, but still very impressive.

(13 Oct 23) Persian War Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) Chepstow 2m4f - 3rd 🥉 3/1 SP
Ran well. Beaten nine lengths by the impressive Captain Teague but only finished a head behind the runner-up. Decent effort.

Storminhome - Ben Pauling

(30 Oct 23) Nov Handi Chase Hunt 3m - 2nd 🥈 3/1 SP
Carried 11-12. Jumped well throughout. Got into a battle with a fellow leader and was picked off my a closer down the straight. Only up a pound for that effort. Much more to come.

So Scottish - Emmet Mullins

2022/23 Horses To Follow Results

Two of the 25 horses we picked out last year didn't run. Of the 23 who did, seven didn't manage to win a race.

Ahoy Senor returned an SP of 13/2 when winning the Cotswold Chase. Fern Hill returned the highest winning SP of 15/2. Bonttay, Guetapan Collonges, Jungle Jack and Pembroke recorded multiple victories during successful seasons.

Despite those victories, our 2022/23 Horses To Follow returned a loss of -£25.30 to a £1 level stake. Let's hope this year's crop of horses to follow returns a profit!

2021/22 Horses To Follow Results

While there were a few disappointments, our list of 40 horses to follow last season turned out to be quite fruitful. Of the 40 runners we highlighted, seven didn't make it to the track. The 33 who did managed 37 victories between them - seven of which came at Grade One level. Noble Yeats even went and landed the Grand National, a feat I certainly wasn't expecting!

Note - Our 2021/22 list featured horses from all yards, including Willie Mullins, Paul Nicholls, Gordon Elliott and Nicky Henderson.
