Henry De Bromhead Stable Tour 2024/25
🌟 Stable Stars 🌟
Captain Guinness
He looks fantastic and is in great form. He’s on track to make his return in the Fortria Chase at Navan on November 16th, and I’d say we’ll be looking at plotting a similar campaign to last season with him. He had already been a wonderful horse for us, but he gave us an incredible day when he won the Queen Mother Champion Chase last March.
Envoi Allen
He’s going to start off in the Grade 1 at Down Royal that he ran so well in to finish second last season. We won’t set any plans in stone until we see what he does there, as he’s obviously quite versatile and we can make adjustments as we see fit. He obviously isn’t getting any younger, but he seems to be in great form.
Monty's Star
He’s in great order, but we won’t start him back until December time. We’ll be aiming him at the open Grade 1 staying chases and are hopeful he can come up to that level. The Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival is the obvious dream. We were delighted with what he did last season, as he was such a big, immature baby, and he can only improve. We’ve always loved him.
Slade Steel
Slade Steel is going novice chasing and will start off in a maiden chase in the next few weeks. We’re obviously very excited about him, given how much he did over hurdles last season, and we’ve always had fences in mind for him. He is versatile enough that we were able to keep our options open with him regards trip last season, and we’ll play it by ear with him as we go. He’s very exciting.

➡️ Novice Hurdles
Echoing Silence
She is a lovely type that is working nicely. She’ll go straight over hurdles and should be ready to run in a month or so. We’ll have a look at her in a schooling hurdle in the next couple of weeks and will pick our spot for her thereafter.
Forty Coats
He’s working nicely and will aim for a maiden hurdle in November. He doesn’t lack pace and should be grand to start off at two miles if we want him to, but two and a half miles should suit him well.
Good N' Kind
He was really impressive in his point-to-point and ran well in his only start in a bumper. He’ll start off in a maiden hurdle over at least two and a half miles in the next few weeks. He looks a staying type.
Kilgame
He’s a promising young horse that had one run in France last season. He is still a maiden, so we’ll start in a maiden hurdle in the next few weeks and take it race-by-race with him.
Sommesky
Sommesky has summered really well and looks great. He’ll go novice hurdling. My suspicion is that he’ll stay well, but he showed pace in his bumper, so we’ll play it by ear.
Wida
He’s tipping away at the minute, and we’ll look for a maiden hurdle with him. He’s a nice type.
➡️ Older Hurdlers
Beckett Rock
He was impressive on his racecourse debut a year ago, but he had a setback after that. We could have got him back at the backend of the season, but we didn’t want to rush him to do so. He hasn’t been given a mark yet, so we might have to wait for a winners-of-one hurdle at Punchestown on December 10th. He isn’t a horse that ever blew us away at home, so it’s hard to know how high he can fly. We’ll play it by ear with him.
Bob Olinger
Bob is in great form and is on track to make his return in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan on November 16th. We’ll see how he goes, but I wouldn’t rule out trying three miles with him again later in the season. He’s always been a very good horse, and it was great to see him back being very competitive in Grade 1 company last season.
Hispanic Moon
She’ll go for the Grade 3 mares’ hurdle at Punchestown that she won last season. The obvious route is to try to get her back to the Mares’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, given she ran so well in it last season.

➡️ Novice Chasers
Hiddenvalley Lake
We’ll some school him over fences and, if that goes well, we’ll start him back in a maiden chase at the end of November. He has shown a high level of form over hurdles, and hopefully he can make it second-time lucky over fences this season.
Inthepocket
It was frustrating for him not to get back to the track last season after he made such a promising chasing debut, but he starts this season as a maiden over fences and is still young, so it will be great to get him back on the track. He seems in great order and is working well. We’ll look to start him back in a maiden chase, potentially as soon as next week.
Lantry Lady
She is going to go novice chasing and we’re looking forward to it, given how much she showed over hurdles. She’s about four-to-six weeks off a run and we’ll probably get her started in a mares’ maiden chase. I’m not sure we’d go beyond two and a half miles with her again, but we’ll play it by ear. She loves testing ground.
Look To The West
The plan for her is to go novice chasing and she’s in great form.
Mossy Fen Park
He’s going novice chasing. We tried to run him a couple of times already, but it just hasn’t happened yet. He’ll go for the maiden chase at Down Royal in ten days or so. I’d be very hopeful he can bring his form forward when he goes over fences, as he was only a baby last season. He’s really filling out his frame now and is a lovely horse.
Waterford Whispers
He’s in great shape and is working well. He’ll go for a maiden chase around the end of November. He has always looked like one that could drive on over fences, and mid-range trips or further will suit him.
➡️ Older Chasers
Heart Wood
He’s in good shape and will be entered for the second-season chase at Wexford on Monday. We’ll play it by ear with him and pick our spots as best we can. We aren’t convinced how well he stayed the three miles at Aintree during the Grand National Festival, but we’ll probably give him another go at it.
Journey With Me
Journey With Me is in great form and will probably go for the Clonmel Oil Chase. We aren’t looking too far beyond that, but we are looking forward to getting him back on the track.
Jungle Boogie
Jungle Boogie is in good order, but he is slightly behind most of the rest, and it might not be until late-November or early-December before he reappears. We haven’t discussed a specific target yet, but he ran well in the Hilly Way Chase at Cork on his return last year and ended up running in the Gold Cup, so we’ll have plenty of options given his versatility.
Quilixios
He’ll start back in the second-season chase at Naas on November 10th. He doesn’t have a lot of mileage in him over fences and can hopefully find more improvement over them this season.
➡️ Bumper Horses
Captains Speech
He’s a nice, young horse that was impressive in his point-to-point. We’re still learning about him and will get a good work into him before we decide what way to go, but there’s a fair chance he’ll start off in a bumper. We’ll know more soon enough.
Fruit De Mer
He looks a lovely young horse that we are learning about all the time. We’ll have a look at him in a schooling race in the coming weeks and then decide what route we go with him. At the minute, I’d be leaning towards starting him in a bumper, but that is fluid.
