In the 2026 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, Diamond Necklace reinforced her dominance by cruising to her fourth straight Group One victory, remaining unbeaten on her British debut. Trained by Aidan O'Brien, the filly outclassed a strong field to win decisively, with Friendly Soul securing second and See The Fire finishing third. Moments Of Joy set a strong early pace for her stablemate before fading. Racegoers geared up for a seismic showdown on day one of the Ebor Festival, as Ombudsman and Constitution River met for the first time in the 2026 Juddmonte International Stakes.
Ombudsman returned to York to defend his crown on the back of a career-best effort in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes. Constitution River was looking for a Group One hat-trick following victories in the Prix du Jockey Club and the Coral-Eclipse, and Ryan Moore's mount was getting a handy weight allowance from the market leader.
Dante and York Stakes winner Item also represented the Classic generation, along with Ballydoyle second-string Hawk Mountain. Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Almaqam was backed at lengthy prices during the morning. Lightly raced four-year-old Zaydann represented Francis Graffard.
Pride Of Arras was looking to extend his excellent record on the Knavesmire. The field was completed by the two supposed pacemakers, with Devil's Advocate representing Godolphin and Action running for Ballydoyle.

Pride Of Arras reared in the stalls before the off, and Ralph Beckett's contender was taken out of the contest on veterinary advice. Once the gates burst open, Hawk Mountain was the first to show, with Constitution River in hot pursuit.
Devil's Advocate only sat third in the early stages, with the other likely pacemaker Action trailing in last place after a furlong. Ombudsman slotted in at the rear from his low draw in stall one. Almaqam and Zaydann were held up too, with Item sitting third-last in the early stages.
Wayne Lordan seemed keen to push on aboard Hawk Mountain, and forced his mount into a three-length lead. Constitution River looked notably sweaty, but seemed to be travelling well under Ryan Moore, and pulled alongside his stablemate as the field entered the home straight.
As Hawk Mountain gave way, Almaqam and Item made their moves from off the pace. William Buick spied a gap along the inside rail, but had to weave right to avoid the flagging pacemaker, and took aim at Constitution River once he found open air.
The market leaders settled down for a fight along the inside rail. However, neither seemed to be going as well as Almaqam, and it was Kieran Shoemark's mount who burst into the lead.
Just as Ed Walker was dreaming of the biggest win of his career, Item stormed onto the scene. Colin Keane's mount was gaining on Almaqam with every stride, with neither giving an inch. Item finally dragged himself alongside Almaqam with 100 yards to go, and the head-bob saw Colin Keane's mount claim a famous victory.
Almaqam ran an absolute screamer back in second, and lost nothing in defeat. Constitution River kept going back in third, with Ombudsman running a little flat after a troubled passage through the contest.
