2026 Breeders' Cup Classic Entries
Forever Young claimed a famous victory for Japan when winning the Breeders' Cup Classic in 2025. Yoshito Yahagi's star became the world's highest-earning racehorse when landing the Saudi Cup, but couldn't follow up in the Dubai World Cup, finishing a close second to Steve Asmussen's Magnitude.
Last year's leading three-year-old Sovereignty has joined Forever Young at the head of the market. Bill Mott's Kentucky Derby, Belmont and Travers Stakes winner was beaten on his first couple of four-year-old starts, but bounced back to top form when landing the Whitney Stakes at Saratoga in August.
Magnitude sits fourth in the betting, despite that win over Forever Young at Meydan and a victory over Sovereignty in the Stephen Foster Stakes. Bill Mott's progressive five-year-old Knightsbridge was hammered in the betting for the Breeders' Cup Classic following his runaway success in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar.
The highest-placed three-year-old in the betting is Leading Change, who took down Napoleon Solo to win the Travers Stakes. Chad Summers' runner-up looks set to take his chance in the Classic, along with Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo, who finished third in the Travers. Jim Dandy winner Renegade will have to bounce back from a poor showing in that race, where Todd Pletcher's star was beaten ten lengths in eighth.
Commandment and Further Ado have both won top stakes races this season and could bolster the three-year-old contingent in the feature race of the Breeders' Cup. Other potential runners include Baeza, Nitrogen, Taj Mahal and Japanese runner Danon Bourbon.
