Breeders' Cup Day 2 at Keeneland offers nine Grade One races, with Further Ado tipped for the Dirt Mile. The colt, trained by Brad Cox, is expected to benefit from dropping back to a mile after struggling to see out longer trips in top company. His recent form, including a win in the Matt Winn Stakes and a narrow defeat in the Pennsylvania Derby, supports his credentials. Other selections include Kilwin in the Filly & Mare Sprint, Time To Dazzle in the Turf Sprint, and Sovereignty in the Classic, each chosen for their suitability to race conditions or recent performances.
The 2026 Breeders' Cup rounds off with an unbelievable card at Keeneland on Saturday. Nine lucrative Grade One races will be run in Kentucky, culminating in brilliant renewals of both the Breeders' Cup Turf and the Breeders' Cup Classic.
Here are my best betting tips for the Grade One races on day two of the 2026 Breeders' Cup.

2026 Breeders' Cup Day 2 Tips
5:10pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint Tips
There looks to be stacks of early speed in our opening Grade One of the evening. If there is a pace collapse, then a closer like KILWIN (10/1) could be on hand to take advantage.
Fifth behind Lake Victoria in the Juvenile Fillies' Turf at the 2024 Breeders' Cup, Kilwin has struggled a little with setbacks over the past two seasons. When we have seen George Arnold's mare on the track, she has tended to perform well and even managed to collect Grade One honours when taking out the Test Stakes at Saratoga last August.
Kilwin has only run twice so far this season, winning a competitive conditions sprint at Ellis Park in July before finishing second to Ways And Means in the Ballerina Stakes. Javier Castellano's mount has five lengths to find with the favourite from that Grade One clash, but I still think there's a good chance that Kilwin will outrun her double-figure odds.

I'm as fascinated as anyone to see this showdown between Bacio and Comanche Brave. Bacio was superb in the Nunthorpe Stakes, as was Comanche Brave in the Flying Five, and the two rightly dominate the betting.
I'm not one to back short-priced runners in sprints, so I'll take the market leaders on with TIME TO DAZZLE (33/1), who'll be ridden to pick up the pieces by Oisin Murphy. Mike Casse's mare has won the last two renewals of the Franklin Stakes held over this course and distance, so comes into her first Breeders' Cup on the back of a much-needed win.
Murphy has experience riding this talented closer, having finished fourth on her in the 1351 Turf Sprint out in Saudi Arabia this February, crossing the line one place adrift of Comanche Brave. Like our opening contest, there's a good chance that the pace will collapse if all of the possible front-runners get involved in an early skirmish, and this talented closer is not one to be underestimated.

6:28pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile Tips
The Dirt Mile has been a good race for punters down the years, and I like this drop back in trip for FURTHER ADO (11/4). Brad Cox's colt was backed into favouritism for the Kentucky Derby earlier in the season but didn't see out the ten-furlong trip.
Flavien Prat's mount bolted up in the Blue Grass Stakes before the Kentucky Derby and bounced back from that Classic defeat with a fine Grade Three win in the Matt Winn Stakes at Churchill Downs. Further Ado struggled to see out nine furlongs when only fifth in the Haskell Stakes before losing out narrowly in the Pennsylvania Derby to a very classy rival in The Puma, who was getting a good chunk of weight from his market rival.
Having continually come up short in top races over nine and ten furlongs, dropping back to a mile seems like a sensible move. Further Ado has some strong rivals to contend with, but, like him, none have been particularly consistent this season. Prat should get a nice pace to aim at from stall one, and I expect to see Further Ado sit in the second or third rank early on before making his challenge. Cox's star is one of the classier types in this contest, and he has a handy three-year-old allowance on his side.

Blue Bolt has been the outstanding miler in Europe this season. Andrew Balding has, however, kept his filly on the go throughout the year, and the market leader could prove vulnerable over this extended distance.
At the prices, JANCIS (20/1) stands out most to me. Willie McCreery's mare bolted up in the Dahlia Stakes over nine furlongs earlier in the season and ran very well when second to Blue Bolt at Royal Ascot before failing to get involved in the Falmouth Stakes after a sluggish start.
Jancis made her North American debut in the E. P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine, where she had to fight her way through traffic to challenge Gimme A Nother and See The Fire, eventually coming up just a neck short. This sort of trip should be ideal for Billy Lee's mount, and Jancis is at her best on rattling-fast ground.
7:42pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Sprint Tips
Englishman has been sensational on his last two starts, establishing himself as the outstanding longer-distance sprinter in the country. Jose Ortiz's mount likes to be up with the early pace, as do many of his main rivals, so the short-priced favourite may not get the run of the race from his wide draw in stall 13.
I've been backing closers in sprint races so far on Saturday, and I'm going to continue that trend here. STRADALE (40/1) was beaten 20 lengths by Englishman in the Woody Stephens Stakes, but Steve Asmussen's colt has improved plenty since then and heads into the Breeders' Cup in search of a hat-trick.
Stradale got up just in time to win the Mahony Stakes at Saratoga and was much more impressive on his most recent outing in the Grade Two Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx, forging clear in the closing stages after a troubled opening passage. In terms of figures, Stradale has plenty to find, but he's an improving three-year-old sprinter who brings solid recent form to the table, and he'll be ridden by a master in Flavien Prat. He's a lively outsider in this excellent contest.
8:20pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Mile Tips
Notable Speech has produced several outstanding performances this season, and Charlie Appleby's brilliant colt looks to have every chance of retaining his Breeders' Cup crown. The favourite looks to have most of this field covered, yet I think he might have his hands full with TRUE LOVE (8/1), who receives both weight and sex allowances from the market leader.
Wayne Lordan was in the saddle when True Love powered to victory in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier in the season. A series of placed efforts in Group One company followed, and just when True Love's season seemed to be tailing off, Aidan O'Brien's filly bounced back to winning ways in the Prix de la Forêt on Arc day at Longchamp.
This powerhouse of a filly is perfectly suited to the US style of racing, and an easy mile will certainly play to her strengths. Ryan Moore rides Puerto Rico, but that's only because he can't do the 8-8 weight for True Love. Wayne Lordan is undoubtedly on the Ballydoyle first string.

8:58pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Distaff Tips
For all that Fully Subscribed has improved since their clash in the Ogden Phipps Stakes, NITROGEN (10/11) flattened her rival by 13 lengths that day, and I can't see the result being any different on Saturday night.
Following that emphatic Grade One victory, Nitrogen took on the colts in the Whitney Stakes and came out of the race with plenty of credit after finishing second to the excellent Sovereignty. Mark Casse's filly warmed up for Keeneland with a routine Grade Two success at Belmont, and I can't see her getting beaten in this weak renewal of the Distaff.
9:36pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Turf Tips
There are plenty of runners who warrant respect in Saturday's co-feature. Aidan O'Brien plays a strong hand with Diamond Necklace and Benvenuto Cellini. Bay City Roller is too classy to be ruled out. Then there's defending champion Ethical Diamond, who was my each-way selection 12 months ago and whom Willie Mullins has been training specifically with the Breeders' Cup in mind.
My value bet in this year's contest will be MAP OF STARS (18/1), who seems to have come into his own in recent starts. Francis Graffard's star entered last season's Prince of Wales's Stakes as France's next big thing but struggled a little as Ombudsman romped to victory, before losing his way for the next 11 months.
With his sights lowered, Map Of Stars made up for his disappointing run at Royal Ascot the previous year by romping to an excellent victory in the Wolferton Stakes. Wimbledon Hawkeye managed to reverse that form in a Group Three at Deauville in August, where James Doyle's mount found trouble in running. Wimbledon Hawkeye has since boosted that form no end with excellent efforts in the Irish Champion Stakes and the Prix Dollar.
Graffard always saw Map Of Stars as a mile-and-a-half horse last season, and this will be the first time Doyle's mount has tackled that trip on his favoured good ground. I do think there's much more to come from Map Of Stars, and I'm hoping he will rise to the challenge of the Breeders' Cup on Saturday.
22:16pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Classic Tips
Magnitude is a big loss to our finale at Keeneland, but viewers can still look forward to a sensational showdown between the top two older dirt horses in training. Forever Young warmed up for the defence of his crown with an easy win at Belmont, and Yoshito Yahagi's five-year-old will relish the fast pace that's sure to be set by Knightsbridge and Napoleon Solo.
As will SOVEREIGNTY (3/1), last year's leading three-year-old. Bill Mott's star ran out a tremendous winner of the 2025 Kentucky Derby and went on to complete a four-timer with victories in the Belmont Stakes, the Jim Dandy and the Travers.
Sovereignty was expected to carry a short price into last year's Classic but suffered a setback and was forced to miss the meeting. Junior Alvarado's mount made a slow start to this season, losing to White Abarrio in the Oaklawn Handicap before a five-length defeat to Magnitude in the Stephen Foster.
With those outings under his belt, Sovereignty roared back to his best with a dominant success in the Whitney Stakes, recovering well from a mid-race blip to win by five easy lengths. Stepping back up to ten furlongs should bring about further improvement from last year's Kentucky Derby winner. I fancy Sovereignty will have Forever Young's number in Saturday's curtain-closer.
