The 2026 Breeders' Cup kicks off at Keeneland today with Future Champions Friday. Five valuable Grade One races will be run this evening, with the first taking place at 6:55pm (GMT).

Here are my best betting tips for the Grade One races on day one of the 2026 Breeders' Cup.

2026 Breeders' Cup Day 1 Tips

6:55pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Tips

George Boughey could hardly be more confident about Libertango's chances going into the first Grade One of the Breeders' Cup. Flavien Prat's mount brings some outstanding form into tonight's opener, and Boughey's raider has landed a lovely low draw in stall three.

MOONRISE (10/1) has been drawn on the rail in stall one, and she could be the one to really challenge the short-priced favourite. Andrew Balding's filly won the Japan Cup at Ascot in July before making all to claim a resounding success in the Sirenia Stakes at Kempton.

Oisin Murphy's mount has a couple of lengths to find with Libertango from their clash in the Cheveley Park Stakes. However, the favourite can sometimes be slowly away, while Moonrise often gets off to a rapid start, making her draw on the rail all the more advantageous. At the prices, I'd rather take a punt on her.

7:35pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Tips

MISS MONICA (5/2) has been superb on her two starts to date, and Bob Baffert's filly should take plenty of beating in our first top-level dirt contest of the evening.

Baffert's filly made all to win on debut over six furlongs before stepping up to seven in the Grade One Debutante Stakes. Miss Monica was given a more patient ride over that longer trip but stretched clear in impressive fashion once she hit the front, winning by six widening lengths.

Flavien Prat's mount has to prove her stamina, and this should be a decent test of that, with an abundance of potential front-runners in the field. However, her sire won the Preakness during his short career, and she's out of an American Pharoah dam who raced over a mile. I think Miss Monica will get the trip just fine.

8:15pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Tips

It's impossible to look beyond SUN GODDESS (5/6) here. Aidan O'Brien's filly has been simply outstanding this season, winning three Group Ones and a valuable sales race at York.

Ryan Moore's mount dispelled any stamina doubts when winning the Moyglare at the Curragh, thundering home to beat Green Empress by six lengths. Sun Goddess looked in danger of getting outpaced back down in trip in the Cheveley Park but picked up brilliantly once she hit the rising ground, forging a length clear of Libertango on the run to the line.

Green Empress has won a Group One since then and couldn't lay a glove on the favourite at the Curragh. I can't see Amusingly troubling Sun Goddess, and there doesn't seem to be much depth outside the leading contenders. Only the wide draw could get Sun Goddess beaten at the Breeders' Cup.

8:55pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Tips

Just six runners will contest this valuable Grade One. Bob Baffert accounts for two of the top three in the market, as the first and second from a thrilling Breeders' Futurity renew their rivalry.

The value here could lie with COACH POPE (11/2), who was touched off by American History in the Futurity. Ken McPeek's youngster kept tabs on the front-running Q B Rocket throughout, and just when it seemed like Jose Ortiz's mount had got the better of the argument, American History flew home from the rear to snatch a narrow victory.

The front two became embroiled in battle early that day, and there's a chance that the fight had softened Coach Pope up by the final 100 yards. Ortiz may look to get to the front early from his wide draw in stall seven, and there's a chance Coach Pope could get a relatively easy lead here, as none of the other big guns have adopted front-running tactics so far. If that does happen, McPeek's colt could have a little too much speed for his rivals in the final quarter of the contest.

9:35pm Keeneland - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Tips

Aidan O'Brien is looking for his fifth successive victory in the final Grade One on Friday. Ryan Moore has opted to ride Great Barrier Reef, but their wide draw in stall 14 makes HAFFNER (7/2) the more appealing betting proposition.

O'Brien's colt has proven himself to be a tough, durable operator this term, winning three of his six starts. Haffner has won the Acomb Stakes and the Royal Lodge Stakes, while also suffering a narrow defeat to the excellent Dr Rascal in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood.

Christophe Soumillon's mount may not have the speed of Great Barrier Reef, nor the class of market-leading Folsom Blues, who has also landed a difficult wide draw. Yet Haffner is a straightforward sort, with plenty of class to boot, and Soumillon is ideally placed to challenge from stall four.
