The 2026 Breeders' Cup Turf promises fierce competition, with European-trained horses historically excelling in this 12-furlong showdown at Keeneland. Ombudsman currently leads the betting, favored to perform well if track conditions suit. Diamond Necklace, Tiffany, and Bay City Roller are among other major European and home-based contenders. The article recommends keeping an eye on horses coming off strong performances in major international Group races, as well as monitoring ground conditions, which can heavily influence outcomes.

One of the most lucrative races staged during the Breeders' Cup is the Breeders' Cup Turf. European horses boast an excellent record in this 12-furlong contest, so it's no surprise to see the ante-post betting dominated by the raiders.

2026 Breeders' Cup Turf Entries

Ombudsman leads the way in the betting for this year's Breeders' Cup Turf. John and Thady Gosden's multiple Group One winner was defeated on his most recent outing in the Juddmonte International, but ground conditions would be much more favourable at Keeneland should Ombudsman make his US debut in the Breeders' Cup.

Diamond Necklace could head on to Keeneland following her third-place effort in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Benvenuto Cellini could also represent Aidan O'Brien despite a ninth-place finish in the Arc. Bay City Roller split Daryz and Diamond Necklace in Paris and could make the trip to Keeneland after a tilt at the Champion Stakes at Ascot.

Tiffany will represent Sir Mark Prescott after defeating reigning Breeders' Cup Turf champion Ethical Diamond in the Turf Cup International Stakes at Keeneland. Willie Mullins' star seems likely to defend his crown after running well behind Tiffany. Arabian Crown now seems a likely runner following his runaway victory in the Canadian International at Keeneland.

Joe Hirsch winner Minaret Station is the leading home contender in the market. Francis-Henri Graffard could send either Varandir or Sunly over to the United States. Other potential runners include Aidan O'Brien's Constitution River, Dermot Weld's Purview, A Boy Named Susie for Donnacha O'Brien and George Boughey's US winner Survie.
