Friday's Lucky 15 Tips & Horse Racing Acca (July 17th)

4:10pm Newbury - Social Symbol

Won nicely on debut at Ripon before going into the Norfolk Stakes as a 33/1 outsider. Started slowly and found himself trapped wide at the rear with two furlongs to travel, but picked up well to record some rapid closing fractions and finish fourth behind the excellent Orthodox. Full brother to a top American miler, so this step up in trip looks sure to suit. Could claim Listed honours this afternoon.

6:58pm Newmarket - Darn Hot Gallop

Won both starts on the all-weather in November. Did well to land a handicap on the Rowley Mile on her reappearance, beating Blue Courvoisier and St Anton, who've won four races between them since. Well beaten in the 1000 Guineas before finishing 17th of 30 from a horrible draw in the Sandringham. Only 3lb higher for this return to handicap company, and there's plenty in her pedigree to suggest she'll be even better over this longer trip.

7:50pm Hamilton - Superior Choice

Two from two this season, winning maidens at Leicester and on the July Course. Cruised to victory last time out, hitting the line strongly to justify odds of 1/3. By top sire Dubawi and the first foal out of Loving Dream, winner of the Ribblesdale Stakes and the Group One Prix de Royallieu. Bred to develop into a top-class middle-distance performer.

8:08pm Newmarket - Powdering

Bounced back from a heavy defeat at Listed level by claiming a course-and-distance success three weeks ago. Travelled strongly behind the pace set by Angel Shared before seeing off Shallow with a smart turn of foot in the closing stages. The pace set-up should be similar here, and a 4lb rise doesn't look harsh. Three fillies have completed the same handicap double in the last seven years, and Billy Loughnane's mount has every chance of adding her name to that list.
