2027 Stayers' Hurdle Entries
The early favourite for next year's Stayers' Hurdle is 2025 Turners Novices' Hurdle winner The New Lion. Dan Skelton's star could only finish third in the Champion Hurdle last season and made a telling mistake at the final flight when second to Brighterdaysahead in the Aintree Hurdle.
Zeus Power ended an excellent novice campaign with a Grade One win over three miles at Aintree, and Joseph O'Brien's five-year-old will remain over hurdles this season. Jasmin De Vaux missed last term through injury, and Willie Mullins' two-time Cheltenham Festival winner could be aimed at the Stayers' Hurdle once he returns to action.
2024 winner Teahupoo will be a ten-year-old when he returns for a fifth crack at the Stayers' Hurdle in March. Gordon Elliott's Mares' Hurdle winner Wodhooh also features prominently in the betting, along with former Coral Cup winner Jimmy Du Seuil, who was campaigned over fences last season.
Home By The Lee caused an almighty shock when winning this race at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival, and Joseph O'Brien's teenager could return to defend his crown in March. Other potential runners include Henry De Bromhead's former Supreme winner Slade Steel, Harry Derham's Grade One-winning novice Le Frimeur, Albert Bartlett winner Johnny's Jury and Joe Tizzard's Champion Hurdle fourth Alexei.
