Gaelic Warrior routed his rivals to claim a commanding victory in the 2026 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Willie Mullins' star followed up in the Punchestown Gold Cup and is already the 9/4 favourite for next year's feature at Cheltenham.

Jango Baie finished a distant second to Gaelic Warrior at Cheltenham before going on to score in the Aintree Bowl four weeks later. Final Demand was pipped to the post by stablemate Kitzbuhel in the Brown Advisory and seems likely to be aimed at the Gold Cup this term.

Willie Mullins could also be represented by Irish Gold Cup winner Fact To File, although a return to the Ryanair Chase seems more likely. Kitzbuhel could enter the Gold Cup picture after a likely tilt at the King George VI Chase at Kempton, while Dublin Racing Festival winner Kaid d'Authie is another possible contender for the champion trainer.

Nicky Henderson will step Lulamba up in trip this term, and his multiple Grade One winner could eventually develop into a Gold Cup contender. Inothewayurthinkin won this famous race in 2025 and ran well to finish third back in March. Emmet Mullins could saddle runaway Irish Grand National winner Soldier In Milan, while The Big Westerner is a possible representative for two-time Gold Cup-winning trainer Henry De Bromhead.

Gordon Elliott's pair Romeo Coolio and Western Fold feature in the Gold Cup market. Other potential runners include Paul Nicholls' Caldwell Potter, Dan Skelton's Grey Dawning, Oscars Brother for Connor King and Jagwar for Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.
