South Africa Horse Racing Tips

Horse racing is big business in South Africa, with meetings taking place on an almost daily basis.

All horse racing in South Africa takes place on the flat. Most of the meetings take place on turf, with a smattering of all-weather meetings thrown in for good measure.

We'll publish daily South African racing tips, as well as feature race previews for all of the major Group One races.

South Africa Racing Tips - Famous Meetings

The most lucrative race in South African horse racing is the Durban July. First staged at HollywoodBets Greyville racecourse in 1897, many of the continent's best horses will enter this handicap and fight for a share of the massive R5m first prize.

Two more of South Africa's best horses races take place during January. Kenilworth stages both the L'Ormains Queen's Plate and the Cape Town Met, which takes place later in the month.

The Cape Town Derby is run at Kenilworth during January, with the South African Derby going off at Turffontein in April. The Daily News 2000 poses as a key trial for the Durban July, with the lucrative Gauteng Summer Cup posing as the final major race on the calendar.
