The 2026 Champions Sprint Stakes is the first of four Group One races on British Champions Day, renowned for its surprises, including a 200/1 winner last year. Almeraq heads the betting after impressive wins in top sprint races. Strong challenges are expected from Comanche Brave, True Love, and past winner Kind Of Blue, alongside a competitive field featuring international runners and previous Group race stars. 2026 Champions Sprint Stakes Entries

The firm favourite to be crowned Champion Sprinter on Saturday is Almeraq. William Haggas' star upset the international hotpots with a shock victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes during the Royal meeting before hammering some of the same rivals in the Sprint Cup at Haydock.

Comanche Brave took down Almeraq to win the July Cup at Newmarket and proved his versatility with an impressive victory in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh last time out. True Love is another who has run over a variety of trips this season, winning the 1000 Guineas in May and the Prix de la Forêt on her most recent start.

2024 winner Kind Of Blue warmed up for his return to Ascot with a conditions race victory at Kempton last month. Paborus and Division could also carry the Wathnan Racing silks into the Champions Sprint, while King Charles III Stakes winner Mission Central could join stablemate True Love in the field.

Great Wish could fly the flag for Denmark following a resounding Group Three success in France earlier in the summer. Francis Graffard could be represented by the Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Samangan. Other potential runners include Prince Of India for Marco Botti, Clive Cox's Group Two winner Coppull, York Stakes third Marvelman for Andrew Balding and last year's shock 200/1 winner Powerful Glory for the Faheys.
