York Racecourse

York is the third biggest racecourse in Britain in terms of prize money offered and features quality racing throughout the year.

Highlighted by the International Stakes in August, York Racecourse attracts around 350,000 racing fans every year and the Ebor Festival is one of the most important festivals on the British racing calendar.

Held in such high regard, York was used as a replacement for Royal Ascot when it was under redevelopment in 2005 and it attracted over 224,000 people from the five-day festival.

It was also awarded Racecourse of the Year in 1997, 2003 and more recently in 2017.

Feature racing runs from May with the Spring Festival and ends with the Garrowby Stakes in September, which immediately follows the Ebor Festival.
