Cheveley Park Stakes betting selections & tips
We will have expert tips for the Cheveley Park Stakes available when the final-field markets are released by bookmakers.
Cheveley Park Stakes history
Named after an estate purchased by Harry McCalmont in 1892, the Cheveley Park Stakes has a good recent history with producing 1000 Guineas winners.
Pretty Polly and Special Duty both won the Newmarket Group 1 before winning the 1000 Guineas the following season.
Held on the final day of the three-day Cambridgeshire festival, the Cheveley Park Stakes might not have a big stake on offer, but it's an important guide for the three-year-old fillies races next year.
Sir Gordon Richards won the race on nine occasions as a jockey and trainers Alec Taylor and Criquette Head-Maarek won four times each as trainers.
Aidan O'Brien scored wins in 2016 and 2017, having not won prior.
No jockey has dominated the race in recent history but Johnny Murtagh did score consecutive wins in 2011 and 2012 with Lightening Pearl and Rosdhu Queen.
It's currently run down the Rowley Mile at Newmarket which adds to the excitement of the race.
Cheveley Park Stakes betting guide
The Cheveley Park Stakes is a haven for favourites punters, which is what makes it such a popular betting race.
There has been only one outsider win in the last 12 years (Brave Anna, 25/1), but every other recent winner has been well-found in the market.
Clemmie won at 15/8 in 2017 and there have been five other favourites win in the last 12 years. During that time there has also been four second favourites win and one third favourite.
All of the last 12 winners have won at least one race that season with 2014 winner Tiggy Wiggy winning a total of five from seven.
Punters should be looking at the top of the book when making selections for the Cheveley Park Stakes as it's a great time to strike on the favoured types.
