ITV Racing Tips on September 27th - Friday's tips at Newmarket

The ITV Racing team heads to Newmarket for the second day of the Cambridgeshire Meeting, featuring four pattern races broadcast live. Key betting tips for Friday's races include backing Rolica in the Rosemary Stakes (1:50pm) and Sea Of Roses in the Dubai Stakes (2:25pm). The ITV Racing team will pitch up at Newmarket on Friday to take in day two of the Cambridgeshire Meeting. Four pattern races will be shown live on ITV, including a Group Two double-header with the Joel Stakes following the Rockfel Stakes.

Here are my best betting tips at Newmarket on Friday.

ITV Racing Tips - Friday 27th September


1:50pm Newmarket - Rosemary Stakes Tips


If the rain that has been forecast for Thursday night and into Friday morning arrives, then the going for this opening race will be extremely soft. Conditions will likely suit Sirona, but three-year-olds have dominated this Listed race in recent years, so the market leader could be vulnerable.

I'm going to chance my arm with ROLICA (5/1), who was only beaten three lengths when sixth in the 1000 Guineas earlier in the season. Jane Chapple-Hyam's charge has only run twice since, finishing fifth of six behind Sparkling Plenty in the Prix de Sandringham, before another fifth-placed effort in the Atalanta Stakes at Sandown.

On both occasions, Rolica was drawn low around turning tracks and never seemed entirely comfortable. Returning to the Rowley Mile will certainly suit and this daughter of Lope De Vega wants plenty of cut in the ground.

2:25pm Newmarket - Dubai Stakes Tips


Time Lock ran out a hugely impressive winner of this race 12 months ago, bolting up on good-to-firm ground. Harry Charlton's mare hasn't been able to reproduce that form in four starts since. A tongue-tie goes on for the first time for her return to Newmarket and the ground will be much softer than what the favourite would ideally like.

SEA OF ROSES (11/2) seems to relish juicy turf. Andrew Balding's filly won her maiden on soft and saw off the strong-staying Deira Mile to win the August Stakes on soft at Windsor when last seen four weeks ago.

Andrew Balding thought enough of this filly to run her in the Epsom Oaks last year and recent performances suggest she may be starting to reach her peak. Stamina and tenacity will be hugely important on Friday, and Sea Of Roses seems to have both in abundance.

3:00pm Newmarket - Rockfel Stakes Tips


Formal looked smart when making it two-from-two at Leicester earlier this month, where she dealt with soft ground very well. 

I'd fancy her over the two Ballydoyle runners. Yet, given how treacherous the ground could be come 3:00pm on Friday, I don't fancy backing a juvenile at such a short price. No bet for me here.
