The 2026 Punchestown Gold Cup has drawn significant attention, showcasing top contenders like Gaelic Warrior and Fact To File. Gaelic Warrior, who recently impressed with a dominant win at Cheltenham, leads the betting odds. Despite tough competition, such as Fact To File who triumphed in the Irish Gold Cup, the race's conditions favor Gaelic Warrior. With his proven record on right-handed tracks and preference for decent going, he stands as the favored choice for victory. Racing enthusiasts can catch all the excitement live stream via mobile or tablet.

The feature race of the Punchestown Festival is the Punchestown Gold Cup. Many of the sport's most famous staying chasers have rounded off their campaign with a victory at Punchestown, and two of this season's stars are locked in a fierce battle for favouritism.

Here's our guide to the 2026 Punchestown Gold Cup, including our best betting tips.

2026 Punchestown Gold Cup Runners

Gaelic Warrior ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Gold Cup at Cheltenham, and Willie Mullins' star is tops the betting at Punchestown. Fact To File beat Gaelic Warrior in the Irish Gold Cup before both travelled to Cheltenham, but missed the Ryanair Chase due to the fast ground conditions.

Inothewayurthinkin kept on from the rear to finish third in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and he's the only non-Willie Mullins-trained runner in Wednesday's line-up. Grangeclare West is back quickly after unseating at the first in the Grand National. Champ Kiely, who finished eighth under Danny Mullins at Aintree, rounds off the field.

2026 Punchestown Gold Cup Tips

I rarely back favourites during the Punchestown Festival, as it's a meeting that traditionally throws up strange results. However, like the Champion Chase on day one, a small field of mainly Willie Mullins horses will contest this year's Punchestown Gold Cup, and there's little to be gained from backing one of the less-fancied runners.

Instead, I'll have to focus on the top two in the market, who'll meet for a fourth time this season. Fact To File got the better of GAELIC WARRIOR (5/4) when they met in the Irish Gold Cup, where softer ground conditions and a more prominent early position played into his hands.

Gaelic Warrior bounced back from that defeat with a savage performance in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Paul Townend's mount jumped and travelled superbly throughout, stretching eight lengths clear of Jango Baie without breaking too much of a sweat.

Mullins' eight-year-old beat Fact To File when the two met in the John Durkan here at Punchestown in November, and performed much better than his stablemate when third in the King George VI Chase at Kempton. Gaelic Warrior likes decent going and loves going right-handed, whereas Fact To File is at his best on softer ground - hence his withdrawal from the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham.

The conditions of this race are firmly in Gaelic Warrior's favour, and I'd love to see him end a sensational season with another impressive victory.
