Royal Ascot Day 5 Tips - Saturday 20th June 2026

2:30pm Ascot - Norfolk Stakes Tips

Charles Darwin became the first favourite to win the Norfolk Stakes since 2008 when he scored under Ryan Moore 12 months ago. Aidan O'Brien will be hoping to see Carry The Flag make it two winning favourites on the bounce, but I'm going to take the market leader on with EZ TINA (9/1) for Wesley Ward.

Ward's filly looked smart when winning on her racecourse debut at Woodbine. Ez Tina went straight to the front and never looked back, clocking a strong time as she cruised across the line a five-length winner.

Ez Tina is from the first crop of Wesley Ward's exceptional sprinter, Golden Pal. Ward's star was pipped to the post by The Lir Jet in the 2020 Norfolk Stakes, and failed to show his best on his two subsequent trips to Britain, but produced some stunning performances on home soil, most notably in the 2021 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

On the evidence of her Woodbine victory, Ez Tina looks to have inherited her sire's speed, and Juan Hernandez shouldn't be inconvenienced by a low draw in stall three.

3:05pm Ascot - Hardwicke Stakes Tips

This has all the makings of an absolute classic. Five Group One winners head the market, with last year's Epsom Derby winner Lambourn - a 20/1 outsider - likely to try and make all from his low draw in stall one.

Santorini Star will want this to turn into a test of stamina. Amiloc could go forward from the outside stall, and West Wind Blows ran a blinder from the front in the Sheema Classic. The pace, therefore, is sure to be red hot, and that will certainly suit the globe-trotting GOLIATH (6/1).

Francis Graffard's star finished second to Isle Of Jura in this race two years ago, before romping to victory in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Christophe Soumillon's mount settled nicely behind a rapid pace that day, and came there swinging at the two-furlong pole before holding future Arc winner Bluestocking on the run to the line.

Goliath has only been able to replicate that performance a couple of times since that stunning triumph here at Ascot. Soumillon's mount managed to make all to win the Grosser Preis von Baden in September, before going close in the Hong Kong Vase and the Amir Trophy in Doha.

Graffard's star warmed up for his return to Ascot with a straightforward Group Two triumph at Chantilly three weeks ago, where he was again suited by a strong early gallop. Goliath should get the ideal set-up on Saturday, and this multiple Group One winner shouldn't be underestimated.

4:20pm Ascot - Jersey Stakes Tips

The Jersey Stakes has often been a little underwhelming, but Saturday's renewal looks excellent. Form lines from both the 2000 Guineas and 1000 Guineas will be drawn together, but it's the unbeaten Saber Strike who heads the market for William Haggas.

I flagged up Morris Dancer as a horse to follow at the start of the season, and I'm excited to see what he'll produce on his seasonal reappearance. COLORI FOREVER (16/1) is an interesting contender for Marco Botti, having gone down the handicap route.

After showing solid form at two, Botti's colt surged to victory from the rear on his reappearance at Newbury, before finishing second to Stellar Sunrise at Newmarket, having been caught in traffic from stall one. Colori Forever then relished the stiff uphill climb to the line here at Ascot when winning in May, coming from off the pace again to beat a strong field with plenty left up his sleeve.

Marco Ghiani's mount looked like a stakes-level performer that day, and Colori Forever is drawn perfectly to track the pace from stall 13. He's a lively each-way contender in this high-quality contest.

5:00pm Ascot - Wokingham Stakes Tips

COMPLETELY RANDOM (14/1) was my selection in this race 12 months ago, and Harry Charlton's closer ran on well from the rear to finish fifth behind the front-running Get It. Completely Random wasn't at his best during the rest of the turf season, but found his form on the all-weather, winning a handicap at Lingfield before an impressive Listed victory in the Kachy Stakes, with both wins coming under Ryan Moore.

Charlton's five-year-old didn't show up at all from a tricky draw in the Abernant Stakes and failed to see out seven furlongs in the Victoria Cup. There is evidence to suggest that Completely Random is better on a synthetic surface. However, on his all-weather form, Completely Random is very well handicapped. I like the application of cheekpieces, given he drifted across the track last term, and Ryan Moore is back in the saddle.

High-drawn horses look set to dominate here again, and another that I fancy on the near side of the track is FLASH HARRY (40/1). Clive Cox's sprinter wasn't beaten far when third in the Shergar Cup Sprint here in August, and benefited from more patient tactics when scoring in a valuable sprint handicap at Goodwood later that month.

Flash Harry was held up right at the back from a poor draw on his return in the Listed Cathedral Stakes, and failed to make any significant inroads. Rossa Ryan, who was in the saddle for that Goodwood triumph, returns aboard Flash Harry this weekend, and he'll be delighted with a high draw in stall 26. There's still more improvement to come from this lighty-raced handicapper.

5:35pm Ascot - Golden Gates Stakes Tips

The final handicap of the week will see Lost Boys and Sahara King meet again after their thrilling showdown in the London Gold Cup. The one I like most is PRINCLING (9/1), as he steps up to ten furlongs for the first time.

William Haggas' rising star was heavily backed for the rearranged Silver Bowl Handicap at Carlisle on the back of an easy novice success. Tom Marquand's mount got outpaced as Blue Courvoisier upped the ante turning for home, but found his stride late on to finish a never-nearer fourth.

The form of the Silver Bowl was hardly franked in the Britannia on Thursday, but that's not enough to dissuade me from backing this talented son of Kingman. Princling's dam, Frankellina, was beaten a neck in the Musidora Stakes before finishing sixth in the Epsom Oaks, so there's every chance that this step up in trip will bring about further improvement.

6:10pm Ascot - Queen Alexandra Stakes Tips

Royal Ascot then ends with what is, undoubtedly, the worst race of the whole week. Willie Mullins has won this three times in the last five years, and I see no real reason to look away from LE DESTRIER (9/4).

Very lightly raced for his age, Le Destrier ran to a good level on the Flat in Germany, and was even tried in Group One company back in 2023. Willie Mullins' recruit made a pleasing stable debut in the Levmoss Stakes, staying on to finish less than two lengths behind Scandinavia in third.

We all saw that form boosted when Scandinavia won the Gold Cup on Thursday, and William Buick has been booked to ride Le Destrier in Saturday's card closer. A victory in the finale could see punters end the week on a high.
