Saturday's main event at Newbury is the Greenham Stakes. In recent years, two colts went on to win the 2000 Guineas after running in this trial, although neither managed to win. Night Of Thunder placed second at Newbury before claiming Classic glory at Newmarket in 2014, while 2023 Guineas hero Chaldean unseated Frankie Dettori coming out of the gates at Newbury.

2025 Greenham Stakes Runners
Rab Havlin has been confirmed in the saddle of John & Thady Gosden's Chancellor, and he tops the market after that impressive novice win at Doncaster last August. The best juvenile form belongs to Brian Meehan's Rashabar, who won the Coventry Stakes at 80/1 before placing second in two Group Ones.
The Juddmonte colours will be carried into battle by Jonquil, who'll be having his first start since moving to Andrew Balding. Charlie Appleby has opted to run just one of his two entrants, with William Buick partnering with recent UAE winner Al Qudra - who holds a 2000 Guineas entries.
David Egan rides recent Lingfield winner Diablo Rojo for Raphael Frier and Amo Racing. Danny Tudhope will partner the once-raced Rogue Allegiance for David O'Meara. Jamie and Richard Spencer will combine with last year's Rose Bowl Stakes winner Yah Mo Be There.
Joseph O'Brien sends Siyouni colt Saracen over to Newbury. Ed Walker's Noble Champion and Aurora Majesty for Archie Watson complete the line-up.
2025 Greenham Stakes Tips
As I mentioned above, Rashabar is the clear stand out on form. I was worried about the step up to seven furlongs for Brian Meehan's star when he travelled over to Longchamp, but Sean Levey's mount saw out the trip well and was unlucky not to land his maiden Group One.
I'm really tempted to back the favourite at 10/3, as I fancy that price could shorten up before Saturday. However, at a longer price, YAH MO BE THERE (11/1) is very interesting.
Despite losing on his debut at York last May, Yah Mo Be There went into the Coventry Stakes as a well-fancied 17/2 shot. Tom Marquand's mount was awkward coming out of the stalls and barely got into that race, finishing a 18th of 22 behind the brilliant Rashabar.
Richard Spencer's star was slowly away again in the Rose Bowl Stakes here at Newbury in July. Jamie Spencer was one of the first jockeys to get to work and Yah Mo Be There responded to pressure brilliantly, sprinting into a two-length lead before being eased in the closing stages.
After that Listed victory, Spencer said that he'll be putting his top two-year-old away for the winter before training him for the Greenham Stakes. Spencer's mount is a winner at this venue and likes decent ground. He's by Mohaather, the 2019 winner of this Group Three, and his dam is by Night Of Thunder, so success in the Greenham is in his pedigree.
