Irish Champions Weekend's grand finale at the Curragh features four top-level Group One races and lively handicaps. Betting tips highlight Big Gossey (E/W) in the Bold Lad Sprint, value play Nighteyes (E/W) in the Flying Five, heavily favored Gstaad in the National Stakes, and One Look to shine in the Blandford Stakes. Each selection is backed by recent form or course affinity. Bettors are advised to consider experience, race conditions, and current trends in their choices for Sunday.

Irish Champions Weekend draws to a dramatic conclusion at the Curragh on Sunday. Four excellent Group One races feature in the middle of the card, and punters can also sink their teeth into a couple of other pattern races and two big-field handicaps.

Here are my best betting tips for day two of Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh.

Irish Champions Weekend 2025 Day 2 Tips

1:30pm Curragh - Bold Lad Sprint Handicap Tips

As this seems to be quite a low-quality renewal of the Bold Lad, I'm surprised to see the top-weight BIG GOSSEY (25/1) sitting at such a price. Charles O'Brien's eight-year-old has won this handicap twice, scoring nicely in 2021 and again in 2023.

A narrow defeat in the Group Two Greenlands Stakes here in May, and a couple of other placed efforts since suggest that O'Brien's stalwart retains all of his ability. Robert Whearty comes in to take three pounds off Big Gossey's back and a lowish draw in stall 11 should allow this course specialist to latch onto the potential front-runners drawn in single-figure stalls.

3:15pm Curragh - Flying Five Stakes Tips

I wouldn't trust anyone at a short price in the current sprinting division and the Flying Five has produced several upsets down the years. Of those sitting at each-way prices, NIGHTEYES (20/1) is the one who captures my imagination.

David O'Meara's filly looked like a sprinter going places when hacking up in a Listed race at Naas last July. Aftter a couple of sub-par performances either side of a 250-day absence, Nighteyes showed some good form over the summer, placing in the Cecil Frail, the Summer Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

O'Meara's raider finished a little one-paced when fifth behind Bucanero Fuerte on her most recent outing in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes. Nighteyes went close on her only previous start over the minimum distance and any juice that gets into the track tomorrow will be to her advantage.

3:50pm Curragh - National Stakes Tips

Saba Desert and Zavateri are sure to make their presence felt on their Irish debuts, but I'm struggling to see beyond GSTAAD (11/10) in this excellent juvenile Group One.

Aidan O'Brien's star pounded his rivals into submission when winning the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. Gstaad then met with a set-back which ruled him out of the Phoenix Stakes, and was only just ready for the Prix Morny at Deauville, where O'Brien's raider was touched off by the top-class filly, Venetian Sun.

If the Morny had been a six-and-a-half furlong contest, Gstaad wouldn't probably had won. O'Brien has said all along that this son of Starspangledbanner would be better over seven furlongs and I'm intrigued to see how Gstaad runs over this extended distance.

5:00pm Curragh - Blandford Stakes Tips

The Blandford Stakes has been a kind race to me down the years. Personally, I think this is a two-way battle between the two classy fillies at the head of the betting, and I'm going to side with ONE LOOK (9/4) over the progressive Red Letter.

Paddy Twomey's filly ensured a stop-start campaign in 2024, but has progressed nicely during her four-year-old season. One Look cruised to victory in the Park Express Stakes on her reappearance, before a narrow defeat to a top-quality rival in Porta Fortuna at Group Two level.

After struggling on fast ground at Royal Ascot, One Look burst out of a pocket on the rail to win cosily on her first start over ten furlongs here in the Meadow Court Stakes. Billy Lee's mount will have to give weight to Red Letter - and three-year-olds have dominated this race in recent years - but I still think there's most to come from One Look over this trip. She'll prove hard to beat.
