ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 24th April

Race 1 - Novices' Championship Final Tips

ON TO VICTORY secured his second win of the season at Warwick last month, powering clear down the home straight to beat a future winner by four lengths.

Alan King's star, who reached a rating of 105 on the flat, has only been put up the handicap by two pounds after that win, meaning he will carry just 11-4 into this competitive race. On To Victory is undoubtedly well-treated, and remains open to progression over obstacles.

Race 2 - King Richard III Stakes Tips

The highest-rated horse in the field here is POGO, who shot up the handicap by nine pounds last season, despite only winning one race, the Listed Midsummer Stakes over a mile at Windsor.

Charlie Hill's five-year-old did, however, manage to place in the Royal Hunt Cup, the Godolphin Stakes and the Grade One Prix d'Ispahan, where he was beaten just three lengths behind Persian King. Pogo has a good record when fresh and goes well on fast ground. I expect Kieran Shoemark will attempt to make all from stall two.

Race 3 - Oaksey Chase Tips

Frodon bids to round off another fantastic season with victory here at Sandown, and Paul Nicholls' King George winners deserves to be odds-on. However, I'd rather take Frodon on with MISTER FISHER.

Nicky Henderson's charge was pulled up behind Allaho in the Ryanair. Mister Fisher was then upped to three miles at Aintree and attempted to make the running, but an error at the 11th was followed by a stumble after the 12th, and Nico De Boinville was flung from the saddle.

Mister Fisher was still going well up until that point, so I doubt it would have taken too much out of him. This drop in trip will suit, as will the ground, as we know Henderson's seven-year-old loves good going. He's the value bet at 2/1.

Race 4 - Casumo Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Tips

A really tricky little race this. Very few stand out to me. I might have a small bet on ANOTHER BATT, who's drawn well in stall five, goes well on fast ground and has dropped to a rating just one-pound higher than his last winning mark. But, again, I don't really hold a strong opinion.

Race 6 - bet365 Gold Cup Tips

The Rachael Blackmore factor has pushed Plan Of Attack to the head of the betting, but he's got more letters next to his name than numbers this season, and travels to Sandown on the back of a heavy, late fall in the Kim Muir.

GOLAN FORTUNE is the one I fancy will run a good race, and he holds plenty of each-way appeal at 10/1. Phil Middleton's stable star won really well at Ludlow on his chase debut back in December, before doing himself justice in the Kauto Star and the Hampton Novices' Chase.

From a very early stage in the Midlands Grand National, it was clear Golan Fortune didn't fancy thr challenge, and I was surprised that he even completed the circuit. Tom Scudamore's mount has been dropped two pounds for that effort, and boasts some strong form here over hurdles at Sandown, so a return to Esher may spark a return to top form.
