The Ebor Festival reaches its penultimate day on Friday afternoon. ITV racing fans will enjoy a couple of big handicaps and the Gimcrack Stakes, before sprinters take centre-stage in the thrilling Nunthorpe Stakes.

Here are my best betting tips on day three of the Ebor Festival.

ITV Racing Tips - Friday 23rd August

1:50pm York - Sky Bet Handicap Tips

It's been a while since a three-year-old scored in this 1m4f handicap, but the youngsters currently dominate this betting heat and I fancy WAFEI (3/1) could justify favouritism.

William Haggas' gelding got off the mark at the fourth time of asking at Hamilton in June. Wafei then went close on his handicap debut at Glorious Goodwood, where James Doyle's mount was forced very wide when attempting to challenge from the rear, but hit the line hard back in second.

Stepping up to a mile-and-a-half should suit this well-bred son of American Pharoah and a wide draw is better than a low one over this distance. With James Doyle unable to do 8-7, Billy Loughnane comes in for the ride on Wafei, and he can hand Wathnan Racing their first winner of the Ebor Festival.

2:25pm York - Lonsdale Cup Tips

With no one holding much appeal towards the head of the market, I'm going to have a small each-way bet on AL NAYYIR (33/1) as he makes his debut for Tom Clover.

Clover's recruit recorded plenty of creditable results in France, beating highly-rated rivals Skazino, Uxmal and Caius Chorister to land a couple of Listed titles in 2023. Al Nayyir's form in the UAE is even better, having pushed 113-rated Siskany to the brink a couple of times, before twice placing behind Tower Of London during the most recent Dubai World Cup Carnival.

Al Nayyir joined Clover's yard at the beginning of July and Tom said in a recent stable tour that his work at home has been strong. Luke Morris takes the ride on Friday. He could go well at a price.

3:00pm York - Gimcrack Stakes Tips

A tricky renewal of the Gimcrack, where there are both ups and downsides to most of the contenders. Despite my concerns about his draw in stall one, CAMILLE PISSARRO (11/2) is the most appealing contender at the prices.

An impressive winner on debut, Aidan O'Brien's colt suffered a shock defeat to Arizona Blaze in the Marble Hill Stakes, before struggling when 11th in the Coventry at Royal Ascot. Camille Pissarro bounced back with a narrow defeat in the Anglesey Stakes to Babouche, who has since slammed Whistlejacket to win the Group One Phoenix Stakes.

That defeat to Babouche is comfortably the best piece of form on offer and Aidan seemed pleased with Camille Pissarro's progress during his pre-Ebor Festival stable tour. He'll do for me at 11/2.

4:10pm York - Fillies' Handicap Tips

I'm going to round off my day three bets with a small wager on SHEMOZZLE (10/1). Ralph Beckett's filly ran all of her maidens on soft ground, winning once at Newmarket, but seemed to relish quicker conditions when making a winning handicap debut at Lingfield ten days ago.

Beckett's three-year-old took that race by the scruff of the neck and comfortably held some in-form rivals at arm's length throughout. Shemozzle is two pounds well-in at the weights and ground conditions should suit Eddy Greatrex's mount.
