ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 10th October

1:15pm Newmarket - Darley Stakes Tips

In a bid to put some extra breathing space between himself and Aidan O'Brien in the battle to be Champion Trainer, Andrew Balding saddles three of the first runners in this low-key opening contest. The Lost King leads Richard Hannon's Haatem in the market, and Humidity is an interesting contender on his first start since last September.

BOILING POINT (15/2) made all to win the Cambridgeshire over this course and distance last term and has been in consistent form for much of 2026. Karl Burke's five-year-old won the Festival Stakes at Goodwood in May and was only beaten a neck by Galen over nine furlongs at the Glorious Meeting, where Haatem finished back in fifth.

Clifford Lee's mount returns to Newmarket on the back of a runner-up effort to the excellent Respond, again at his beloved Goodwood. Boiling Point relished the Rowley Mile when he won the Cambridgeshire, and there's a chance he could dominate this contest from the front.

1:30pm York - Rockingham Stakes Tips

Over to York now, where I'm going to back ANGELS PASSING (16/1) at a price in the Rockingham. Kevin Ryan's filly finished fourth on her debut in the Marygate before beating just two rivals in style at Hamilton during the summer.

Kevin Stott's mount was well beaten on her most recent outing in the Lowther Stakes here at York, but Angels Passing encountered plenty of traffic problems from her wide draw and could never get into the contest. The form of the Lowther has been working out extremely well since, though, and she could be worth chancing in a wide-open renewal of this Listed race.

1:50pm Newmarket - Zetland Stakes Tips

If Andrew Balding doesn't win the opener, then Aidan O'Brien could jump back into the lead in the title race if DRUMBEAT (Evens) can justify a short price in the Zetland Stakes.

Ryan Moore's mount dead-heated with Equus Victory on his third maiden start at Gowran Park before stepping into Group Two company at the Curragh. His stablemate Noble Exhibit was much too classy for his rivals that day in the Beresford Stakes, but Drumbeat ran very well to finish third, a good two lengths clear of 101-rated stablemate Shakespeare.

This son of Wootton Bassett will have no trouble seeing out ten furlongs, and O'Brien's record in the Zetland is solid.

2:05pm York - For The Fans Handicap Tips

The last five winners of this competitive handicap have all carried 9-6 or more, and I'd be disappointed if the classy YABHER (11/1) didn't make his presence felt.

William Haggas' gelding beat Wine Dark Sea in a handicap at Newmarket this time last year and returned to action with an emphatic front-running success at Goodwood in May. Slow starts then ruined Yabher's chances in both the John Smith's Cup and the Chesterfield Cup at Goodwood, but he bounced back to something like his best with a fine third-placed effort in the Silver Bell at Hamilton in August.

Tom Marquand's mount was giving Evanesco ten pounds that day, and the winner went on to run another huge race in the World Pool handicap held at Newmarket last weekend. I like this drop back down in trip for Yabher, who usually runs well fresh, and I'd hope to see Marquand ride this strong stayer confidently from a favourable low draw in stall four.

2:25pm Newmarket - Autumn Stakes Tips

William Buick rides Rock Montreal for Roger Varian, leaving Billy Loughnane to renew his partnership with Charlie Appleby's Al Jabbar. Both Godolphin horses might have to play second fiddle to SERGEI DIAGHILEV (11/4), who brings the best form and the highest rating into this Group Three.

Aidan O'Brien's colt saw out a mile well when winning the Listed Churchill Stakes at Gowran Park, earning a rating of 107. Sergei Diaghilev then attempted to make all in the seven-furlong Champagne Stakes, but bumped into the excellent Desert Castle, who strode clear of the leader late on to win by three lengths.

Sergei Diaghilev still managed to finish a good way clear of the rest of the field that day, and Desert Castle is odds-on to win the upcoming Dewhurst. Ryan Moore will be happy with a widish draw in stall seven, and if he can dictate the early fractions, Sergei Diaghilev could be very hard to peg back.

3:17pm York - Sprint Trophy Handicap Tips

You could make a good case for at least 12 of the 20 runners in this handicap, couldn't you? It really is incredibly open. I'm just going to have a small each-way bet on DARK THIRTY (25/1), who beat second-favourite Binhareer over this course and distance earlier in the season.

Jason Hart's mount finished third to favourite Coul Angel on his penultimate start at the Curragh, and there's a six-pound swing at the weights between the two in Dark Thirty's favour for this rematch. I like backing horses on either flank in sprint handicaps at York, ignoring those drawn down the middle, and Dark Thirty's draw in stall four looks to be ideal.

3:40pm Newmarket - Cesarewitch Tips

Irish raiders have dominated recent renewals of the Cesarewitch, winning six of the last eight and accounting for at least four of the first six places in each of the last three years. At the ante-post stage, I backed REVEREND HUBERT (12/1), who won last year's Trial and was sent off at 7/2 to win the race itself, but could only finish sixth after being ridden more prominently than usual.

Charles Byrnes' eight-year-old has been in excellent form since then, winning once on the Flat and twice over hurdles during the summer. Reverend Hubert flew home from the rear to score at the Curragh in June and was last seen winning a three-mile handicap hurdle at Down Royal at the end of August, where he saw off a very good dual-purpose horse of Gordon Elliott's in Samui.

Reverend Hubert carried close to bottom weight 12 months ago and will have to shoulder 9-5 this time around. However, Byrnes' eight-year-old is certainly classy enough to cope with such a burden, and Kieran Shoemark comes in to take the ride this year.

Before Ireland's recent dominance, 50/1 and 66/1 shots would win the Cesarewitch on a regular basis. Horses priced as big as 100/1 have placed in more recent renewals of this handicap too, so I'm happy to chance BERKSHIRE SUNDANCE (40/1) for the Andrew Balding team.

Having enjoyed plenty of success on the all-weather over the winter, Berkshire Sundance returned to turf with a fine effort in the Chester Cup, finishing sixth from an awful draw in stall 15. Balding's six-year-old ran very well again in the Goodwood Handicap during the Glorious meeting, finishing a clear second to favourite Defiantly, who has since claimed Group Two honours and will challenge for the Melbourne Cup.

Berkshire Sundance drops back into handicap company after running seventh behind Caballo De Mar in the Doncaster Cup. Alfie Redman comes in to take seven pounds off his mount's back, and Berkshire Sundance could be a big danger with just 9-2 on his back.
