ITV Racing Tips - Friday 11th October

1:30pm York - Autumn Mile Handicap Tips

David O'Meara will saddle three of the first four in the betting ahead of this competitive handicap. Theoryofeverything would be my pick of the O'Meara trio, given the ground remains in his favour.

At a longer price, I'm going to chance my arm with LOOK BACK SMILING (16/1), who kept on well from the rear to finish seventh in the Cambridgeshire two weeks ago. Gemma Tutty's four-year-old often blows his chances at the start but can still muster up a strong finish, like he did when almost landing the Thirsk Hunt Cup earlier in the season. Soft ground is ideal for Joanna Mason's mount and a low draw is better than a wide one over a mile at York. He's got each-way claims.

1:47pm Newmarket - Cornwallis Stakes Tips

Most bookies are still 4/1 the field ahead of this 12-runner juvenile sprint. I'm keen on the chances of GRAND MARQUES (6/1), who seems to be hitting top form at the perfect time.

Fozzy Stack's raider ran behind Ballydoyle fillies on her first four starts, before finally opening her account with a powerful victory at Naas last month. On her first trip to the UK, Grande Marques broke well and made the running in the Firth Of Clyde Stakes at Ayr and wasn't passed by the well-backed favourite until the final 100 yards of that six-furlong contest.

William Buick's mount has more than enough early speed to cope with this drop back to the minimum distance and I like forward-going types in sprints on the Rowley Mile. She looks to have a big chance.

2:05pm York - British EBF £100,000 Final Tips

Another outsider that I like at York is MIRABEAU (16/1). Dominic Ffrench Davis' juvenile struggled on his career debut at Newbury and was given plenty of time to recover after that 15th-place finish.

On his return to action at Brighton last month, Mirabeau was backed down to 6/1 before the off and produced a commanding performance, powering four lengths clear of the field. Danny Tudhope's mount relished soft ground at Brighton and there are several potential pace angles on his side of the track.

2:25pm Newmarket - Oh So Sharp Stakes Tips

Amo Racing made headlines at the sales this week and they'll be hoping to see 1000 Guineas entrant Cathedral land this Group Three. I do think that Ralph Beckett's filly could be the most talented filly in this contest, but the field is packed with dangerous opposition and 3/1 isn't an appealing price on that basis. I'll leave this one alone.

2:40pm York - Finale Handicap Tips

The two classiest sorts have risen to the head of this betting heat and I'm going to side with the proven stamina of MASTER BUILDER (9/4) over The Reverend's untapped potential.

David Menuisier's colt ran a lovely race when third from well off the pace in the Melrose Handicap at York, and followed up at Haydock two weeks later. Master Builder was outpaced and detached at the rear early in that handicap, but soon latched back onto the bridle and won convincingly in the end.

Menuisier has been itching to get this progressive stayer on soft ground all season, so conditions should be ideal. Danny Tudhope's mount has a massive chance.

3:00pm Newmarket - Challenge Stakes Tips

A really tricky contest, where plenty will fancy their chances. Being up with the early pace could be important, so I'm going to back the fast-starting QUINAULT (9/1) to continue his winning sequence.

Stuart Williams' four-year-old won seven times in nine starts last term, including back-to-back six-furlong wins on the Rowley Mile and an impressive triumph in a lucrative seven-furlong handicap at Ascot in September. After a slow start to this season, Quinault has gotten the ball rolling with a hat-trick of Listed victories and Marco Ghiani's mount has already proven he can rack up a serious sequence when the wind is in his sails.

3:15pm Chepstow - Persian War Novices' Hurdle Tips

I was hoping to see Teeshan and Brechin Castle square off in this Grade Two, so to see neither of the big guns feature in the final field is disappointing. The speedy Ryan's Rocket has jumped to the head of the market, with the strong-staying Intense Approach - who'll be ridden by Harry Cobden - sitting just behind.

Juventus De Brion is interesting, having shown promise on his two starts last term, but 5/1 isn't a good enough price for me to get involved. I'll give this one a miss.

3:50pm Chepstow - Veterans' Handicap Chase Tips

With Nigel Twiston-Davies striking at almost 40% during the first few weeks of the new season, GOOD BOY BOBBY (7/2) has every chance of claiming back-to-back wins. Twiston-Davies' 11-year-old clung on to deny a charging Aye Right to win this race 12 months ago, before following up in a similar contest at Sandown the following month.

Four defeats during the second half of last season see Good Boy Bobby return to Chepstow running off just a one-pound higher mark than last year. The favourite has made a winning start to five of his seven seasons over obstacles - a quite impeccable reappearance record.

4:10pm Newmarket - Old Rowley Cup Tips

This 12-furlong handicap hasn't been a good race for the bookies in recent years. Six of the last nine winners have returned a single-figure SP, with four favourites winning in that period.

KILDARE LEGEND (6/1) is already well-found in the market, having struck on his last two starts. James Ferguson's gelding won easily on his third maiden start at Southwell, before seeing out this distance well to make a winning handicap debut at Doncaster last month.

Danny Muscutt's mount really found his stride in the closing stages of that contest, and a six-pound rise from the handicapper doesn't seem overly harsh. Being drawn wide has proven to be beneficial in this race recently, so Kildare Legend could be well-placed to challenge in stall 11.
