ITV Racing Tips on August 2nd - Final day selections at Glorious Goodwood
The final day of Glorious Goodwood promises exciting races with several betting tips to watch. Ambiente Friendly is expected to perform well in the Glorious Stakes after a gelding operation. Aeronautic, trained by Joseph O'Brien, seeks to capitalize on his recent solid performance. Danielle, a talented filly returning on seasonal debut, could make her mark in the Lillie Langtry Stakes. Saturday's Tips
Glorious Goodwood draws to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon. Stayers will strut their stuff in the Summer Handicap and the Lillie Langtry Stakes, before we move into the feature handicap of the meeting, the Stewards Cup sprint.
Here are my best betting tips for day five of Glorious Goodwood.
ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 2nd August
1:20pm Goodwood - Glorious Stakes Tips
A fairly dull opening to Saturday's card. To liven things up, I'm going to chance my arm with AMBIENTE FRIENDLY (9/1), who could bounce back to top form following a gelding operation.
James Owen's four-year-old boasts some fantastic form from last season. Ambiente Friendly thrashed Illinois in the Lingfield Derby Trial, before placing in both the Epsom and Irish Derbys. A poor run in the Juddmonte International Stakes then sparked a downturn in form, and Sean Bowen's mount has barely featured on any of his last four starts.
Owen has made the bold move to geld his stable star and Ambiente Friendly returns to action with his trainer's stable in solid form. Ambiente Friendly has dealt with soft ground well in the past. He's got more than enough class to win this sort of race.
1:55pm Goodwood - Summer Handicap Tips
Joseph O'Brien has already had a winner at Goodwood this week and the in-form Irish trainer could double his tally if AERONAUTIC (8/1) builds on his Royal Ascot showing.
Fourth in a 14-furlong Listed race on his final three-year-old start, Aeronautic went into the Copper Horse Handicap after a spin over ten furlongs at the Curragh. O'Brien's raider bumped into the exceptionally well-handicapped French Master on that occasion, and finished a little one-paced in fifth, having threatened to challenge along the rail.
O'Brien gelding still ran up to an RPR of 102 that day and remains on the same rating of 96 for this assignment. On breeding, softer ground will suit this lightly-raced stayer, and Colin Keane picks up the spare ride.
2:30pm Goodwood - Lillie Langtry Stakes Tips
I'm pretty confident in saying that DANIELLE (7/1) is the most talented filly in this race, and she could be worth chancing on her seasonal reappearance.
Barring two efforts on good-to-firm ground, Danielle's three-year-old form is excellent. An emphatic maiden winner at Wetherby, James Doyle's mount finished a close third to You Got To Me in the Lingfield Oaks Trial, second to course-specialist Max Vega in a heavy ground St Simon Stakes, and a close second to the ultra-talented Estrange on her final outing of the season at Doncaster.
Danielle must have met with a setback which has kept her out until this point - or connections have decided to wait for softer ground and a busy autumn campaign. This Cracksman filly is a half-sister to Royal Ascot Gold Cup winner, Courage Mon Ami, so I can't see this 14-furlong trip posing too much of a problem. If she's fit, she should challenge.

3:45pm Goodwood - Whispering Angel Handicap Tips
19 runners will enter the stalls ahead of this competitive handicap, and I'm going to chance my arm with HALLASAN (22/1). Charlie Appleby's colt was upped to a mark of 101 after defeating Camille Pissarro in the £300k 2YO Stakes at Doncaster last September, and even won over a mile out in Dubai over the winter.
Hallasan got outpaced on his reappearance in the Commonwealth Cup Trial, and could only stay on to place fourth behind three quality rivals in the Surrey Stakes at Epsom. Back down over six furlongs, Hallasan found himself outpaced again in the 3yo version of the Bunbury Cup last time out, but did rally late in the day to finish ninth, having been forced to angle across towards the inside rail to try and make up some ground.
The handicapper has dropped Hallasan's mark by two pounds down to 96 for that effort and returning to seven furlongs should suit. Charlie Appleby has only had a couple of runners so far this week, but William Buick is riding at Goodwood over a trip to Newmarket, so Appleby must think his two runners on the day have a chance.
