RacingInsider.com Daily Tips - Saturday 19th April

2:05pm Haydock - Givemefive

Challenger Series Final day at Haydock opens with a two-mile handicap, where GIVEMEFIVE (5/2) is hard to oppose. Harry Derham's star placed in Grade Two company as a juvenile and kicked this season off with a victory in the Masterson Holdings Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Givemefive then travelled over to Ireland and finished fourth behind Anzadam in the WillowWarm Hurdle. After three low-key runs in handicaps, Derham's hurdler roared back to form with an easy victory at Newcastle last month, where he took down Pay The Piper and two other decent rivals.

A four-pound rise for that seven-length success doesn't seem overly harsh and Givemefive ran very well on the flat course at Haydock earlier in the season. The top weight should go in again.

3:15pm Haydock - Dubai Days

DUBAI DAYS (5/1) was beaten into second by Numitor in this race 12 months ago, but I fancy Nick Alexander's 11-year-old could go one better off just a two-pound higher mark.

Bruce Lynn's mount always finds his best form in the spring, so much so that Alexander decided the bypass the worst of the winter conditions this season. Dubai Days returned to action with a bang in February, winning well over this course-and-distance.

Alexander's stable star was last seen finishing a close second behind the thoroughly in-form Credo over a three-mile trip which would have suited the winner much better. Dubai Days remains on the same mark of 127 and boasts plenty of course form to bolster his claims.

3:35pm Musselburgh - Align The Stars

Since this handicap was rebranded as the Queen's Cup with boosted prize money in 2017, the quality of the winners has risen considerably. Five of the last six winners were rated at least 98 and carried north of 9-2. All six races were won by four, five or six-year-olds too, so siding with the younger entrants seems like a sensible idea.

ALIGN THE STARS (9/2) fits that profile perfectly and should go well for Charlie Johnston. Joe Fanning's mount racked up a hat-trick in middle-distance handicaps last summer, scoring over a mile-and-a-half at Thirsk before 1m6f victories at Haydock and Glorious Goodwood.

Johnston's gelding was well-beaten in both the Yorkshire Cup and the Prix Royal Oak, but returned to action with a fine third-place finish behind the classy Al Qareem in the Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham. With that run under his belt, Align The Stars should be extremely competitive over a course and distance that will suit.
