Sha Tin Tips - Group One Tips on QEII Cup day

Sunday marks one of the biggest days on the calendar in Hong Kong racing. The QEII Cup headlines Sunday's action, with the Chairman's Sprint Prize and Champions Mile also featuring on the card.

We've taken a closer look at these lucrative races and picked out our best betting tips.

Sha Tin Tips - Sunday 25th April


Race 1 - Chairman's Sprint Prize Tips

Danon Smash followed his victory in the Hong King Sprint with another Grade One win on home soil, beating the best Japan has to offer in the Kinen. Joao Moreira's mount dominantes the betting here, but offers very little value at around Evens.

I'd much rather take an each-way punt on STRONGER, who comes into this Group One on the back of two narrow defeats. Douglas Whyte's four-year-old was nabbed on the line by Sky Field at Happy Valley, and pipped to the post by Amazing Star in the Sprint Cup last time out. 

CY Ho has got a lovely tune out of Stronger the last twice, and if he's within touching distance turning in, he has a turn-of-foot that even Danon Smash should worry about.

Race 2 - FWD Champions Mile Tips

Golden Sixty goes for a 14th victory in a row on Sunday, and you can't see how the 2/5 favourite gets beaten. KW Lui's star has won between seven and ten furlongs, with his best performances coming over the trip he tackles this weekend.

KA YING STAR has finished second twice and third behind Golden Sixty this season. With no other likely pacesetters in the field, he'll get an uncontested lead, and made all to win a handicap over course-and-distance last time out. 

An each-way bet on Ka Ying Star is a more profitable betting plan than a straight-win bet on Golden Sixty. So that's what I'll be doing.

Race 3 - FWD QEII Cup Tips

The ever-green Exultant is greatly respected. As is Love Only You, who ran a blinder behind Mishriff in the Sheema Classic on her last start. However, the one to beat here is Japanese Triple Crown winner, DARING TACT.

Haruki Sugiyama's star has lost her last two races. Daring Tact was given too much to do in the Japan Cup, staying on from well off the pace to finish third behind Almond Eye. The favourite was then upstaged in the Kinko Sho, as 224/1 outsider Gibeon held on from the front to deny the charging pack.

Daring Tact looked a little rusty that day, and is entitled to come on for the run. The statistics show that stall one is the best draw over this trip, so I don't fancy siding against the market leader.

Verdict

Daring Tact is our best bet in the QEII Cup. We're also backing Stronger and Ka Ying Star at each-way prices.
