The Hollywoodbets Durban July is set for Saturday, 4 July, 2026, and organisers have announced that this year’s theme will be “Country Allure”.
The 145th running of the prestigious race will take place at Greyville Racecourse in Durban on the first Saturday in July with a huge crowd once again expected for a day of fashion and racing.
The theme was unveiled on March 19 to officially kick off the countdown to Africa’s most prestigious horse‑racing and lifestyle event.
The “Country Allure" Theme
“Country Allure” blends rural charm with classic racing glamour, inviting designers, fashionistas and racegoers to draw inspiration from sweeping countryside landscapes, equestrian heritage and earth‑toned textures.
Think tailored tweeds, flowing linens, vintage‑inspired silhouettes, and accessories that nod to farm‑glam and pastoral romance - while still packing the high‑fashion drama the Durban July is known for.
Fashion, Creativity & Top Tips
The creative direction is being framed as a “storytelling” opportunity for African designers, with brands already teasing collections that mix heritage fabrics, handcrafted details, and contemporary tailoring.
Racegoers are encouraged to reinterpret the countryside in their own way - whether going full “farm‑glam” with boots and gingham, or adding rustic touches like woven hats, leather accents and earthy metallics to an otherwise polished look.
Once again, there will best dressed competitions and prizes throughout the afternoon on Durban July Day on July 4.
Mzwandile Mathonsi, founder of the ZWANDYY fashion brand, said: “The ‘Country Allure’ theme is rich with storytelling, allowing us to explore heritage and sophistication in bold ways.
"The Hollywoodbets Durban July is a platform to grow, reach new audiences and showcase African creativity.”
“This year’s theme celebrates the elegance and authenticity at the heart of horse racing," added Stephen Marshall, Head of Major Events, Marketing and Broadcast at Race Coast.
"It reflects the beauty of the countryside while inspiring people to interpret it in unique and imaginative ways.”
Councillor Thembo Ntuli, Chairperson of eThekwini Municipality’s Economic Development and Planning Committee, added: “We look forward to welcoming thousands of punters, fashionistas, and visitors to Durban.
"This event plays a vital role in boosting tourism, supporting jobs, and growing the fashion industry while strengthening the City’s position as a premier events destination.”
