Early tips for the two colt's Classics in 2025, the 2000 Guineas and the Epsom Derby.

The first Classic of the flat season in Britain is the 2000 Guineas, which takes place this year on May 3rd. Four weeks later, one of the sport's most famous races will take place in Epsom, as a classy field of colts do battle in the Epsom Derby.

I've taken a look through the juvenile colts division from last year and picked out a horse to back for both the 2000 Guineas and the Epsom Derby in 2025.

2025 2000 Guineas Ante-Post Tip - Field Of Gold

Despite his many accomplishments, John Gosden has never trained the winner of the 2000 Guineas - a race he once dubbed, "the last two-year-old race of the season". Despite that statistic, I fancy we could see a strong showing from FIELD OF GOLD (33/1) if he pitches up at Newmarket.

Gosden's budding star got upset in the stalls ahead of his two-year-old debut at Doncaster, but still ran well to finish third behind future Canadian Group One winner New Century. Field Of Gold then impressive with a runaway maiden triumph on the July course, before swatting away his rivals to win the Solario Stakes at Sandown.

On his final two-year-old outing, Gosden sent his youngster over to Longchamp for the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. Kieran Shoemark had his arms locked tight to try and restrain his keen-going mount behind the pacesetter and Field Of Gold paid for his enthusiasm late on, as he was passed by two closers and Shoemark allowed his mount to cruise over the line in fourth place.

This strapping son of Kingman looked like he still had some filling out to do last season and should be even more effective as a three-year-old. Field Of Gold brings some high-quality form into his second season on the track and I have no doubts about whether he'll see out a mile.

2025 Epsom Derby Tips - Green Impact

Jessica Harrington and her team will be busy preparing Futurity Trophy winner Hotazhell for a tilt at the 2000 Guineas. She's also confirmed that stablemate GREEN IMPACT (40/1) is being lined up for the Epsom Derby and I could see him going well if he makes it to the Downs.

Following a narrow defeat on his two-year-old debut at the Curragh, Green Impact went on to beat Delacroix twice around Leopardstown. Shane Foley's mount first got the better of his rival in a maiden, before running down the leader to secure victory in the Champion Juvenile Stakes during Irish Champions Weekend.

Delacroix then beat Stanhope Gardens in the Autumn Stakes, before running Hotazhell close at Doncaster. Green Impact was nicely on top of Delacroix on both of their meetings last term. Yet, he's available at almost twice the price.

Harrington's colt is by a dependable and classy sire in Wootton Bassett and he's out of a Galileo damn. Both Harrington and owner/breeder Marc Chan would love to get their hands on the Epsom Derby trophy and Green Impact is a colt on a firm uphill trajectory.

Verdict

Field Of Gold is our early fancy for the 2025 2000 Guineas.
