Sha Tin hosts an intriguing 11-race program on Wednesday, with a blend of emerging talent, progressive handicappers and competitive contests highlighting the Hong Kong meeting.

Continuous Development Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Sha Tin Roughie - Race 8 No. 9 Aca Fast

Although the winning strike rate isn't high, the David Hall stable is still a profitable one to follow at Sha Tin this season, with 25 winners at the circuit returning an ROI of better than 53%.

An average winning price in excess of $17 also points to the stable producing plenty of winners at big odds, and Aca Fast is one of eight runners David Hall saddles on Wednesday.

The gelding is a big price again here, although he started at even longer odds in both Hong Kong appearances to date.

Not much was expected on debut after quiet trials, but he produced a pass-mark effort despite showing greenness, before improving at his second start over 1200m, with a solid tick-over trial completed since.

The rise in distance looks suitable, and Aca Fast comes from a strong family that includes Group 1 winners Harlem Reel and Cape Of Good Hope.

Riding High Together Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Sha Tin Best Bet - Race 9 No. 8 Jolly Brilliant

There were excuses for the debut defeat earlier in the season, with Jolly Brilliant badly inconvenienced on November 15 before again finding traffic at his second start on December 27.

His subsequent five appearances have all been competitive, including a placing on March 22 after finishing strongly along the inside in a race that has since produced five winners.

A runner-up finish followed when stepping to a mile for the first time on April 26, with that Class 4 also producing two subsequent winners.

He had no luck last time when dragged back from a wide draw in a slowly run race that favoured those closer to the speed, but still worked home well from the rear for fourth-of-14.

Hugh Bowman now has a kinder draw to work with, and the son of Ocean Park looks ready to breakthrough.

Sportsmanship Handicap Tips (Race 10)

The Brett Crawford stable is in form after a Happy Valley winner last Wednesday and a Sha Tin double on Saturday.

Hymnbook also caught the eye when finishing third in a 1200m trial on June 11, following competitive third and fourth-up performances.

Those included a fifth-of-12 on April 12, where he found interference late after being crowded at the start, while his latest sixth-of-14 on May 9 came in a race that has already produced four subsequent winners.

The four-year-old continues to improve with every Hong Kong start and may appreciate further ground in time, although the drop in the weights is another positive.

Barrier 10 shouldn't be a major concern for a horse who needs galloping room, while Karis Teetan retains the ride after partnering Brett Crawford's two winners on Sunday during a treble.

Better Future Handicap Tips (Race 11)

Sha Tin Next Best Bet - Race 11 No. 2 Tycoon Resources

A half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Hungry Heart, Tycoon Resources is one of the more interesting runners on Wednesday's program.

The Tony Cruz-trained galloper opened his career with a winning hat-trick before handling the rise to Class 3 with a comfortable one-and-a-half-length victory at Happy Valley on January 10.

The three-year-old appreciated the step to 1200m after beginning his career with two wins over five furlongs, although he did lay in during the straight at his first victory.

The task was tougher at his latest start on May 20 after playing up in the barriers before missing the start and finding himself in an awkward position throughout.

Despite those setbacks, he still made good late ground, and while he rises in weight for his first Sha Tin appearance, he previously carried 2.5kg more when completing a Class 4 double.
