Lossiemouth is the 2/9 favourite for the 2026 Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown, aiming to defend her title after an emphatic victory in last year's race. Her strong recent form, including a dominant Champion Hurdle win and another Punchestown success, positions her at the top of Willie Mullins' two-mile hurdling squad. Main contenders include William Munny, runner-up in the 2025 Supreme, and Talk The Talk, a Grade One-winning novice. Despite a select field, Lossiemouth's proven class makes her the standout selection for this Grade One contest.

The first Grade One race for hurdlers in Ireland takes place at Punchestown on Saturday, as a select field enters the Morgiana Hurdle. This Grade One has been used as a starting point for many future Champion Hurdle winners, with greats like Hurricane Fly, Moscow Flyer and Limestone Lad featuring on the roll of honour.

Let's take a look through the odds for this year's Morgiana Hurdle and highlight the most likely runners.

Once State Man was injured last season, Lossiemouth was propelled to the head of Willie Mullins' squad of two-mile hurdlers. Paul Townend's mount romped to an emphatic victory on her return in the Morgiana before trading wins with Brighterdaysahead at Leopardstown.

Lossiemouth turned the tables on her rival with a dominant performance in the Champion Hurdle before cruising to victory at Punchestown. The bookies make Lossiemouth the 2/9 favourite to win her second Morgiana later this month, and it's hard to see Mullins' grey relinquishing her crown.

Second to Kopek Des Bordes in the 2025 Supreme, William Munny was seen only once last term, and Barry Connell will be hoping for a trouble-free campaign in 2026/27. Talk The Talk claimed Grade One honours during an impressive novice hurdle season, and Joseph O'Brien has handed him an entry, despite stating that his star would be going novice chasing this season.

Blake was touched off by Heads Up in the Bottlegreen Hurdle at Down Royal and could step back into Grade One company. Ebony King looked set to collect a Listed prize at Gowran Park in October, only to fall at the final flight. El Cairos went on to win that Gowran Park contest but will have to bounce back after a tired fall in the Bottlegreen last time out.

Gordon Elliott has entered Mange Tout and Casheldale Lad, who collected a couple of Listed prizes during a busy campaign last term. Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm have handed a surprise entry to four-year-old Noire Wulf, despite her finishing seventh of eight in a French handicap on her return to action.
